Can't find Coal / Sulfer?

In a lvl 55? ish provisional realm but can;t seem to find it anywhere, it's still all tin ore or quartz?

Every time you go in tower or especially the fae portal, scour all the little offshoot corridors. There are almost always Sulphur nodes there and lots of goodies, copper, shimmering, nickel. I am always lookin for caves too, they can be very good. There are also cans of sopher around some of the rusted tanks and buildings, especially as I am hoovering my way through provisioner realms, in forest atm. The cans are new for me at this level as refined. The bound at night and in quest fights always drop Sulphur iirc.

My best source of coal is the barrels in the dungeons (gold capped barrels are ammo.)
Sulphur is kinda rare.

I think someone else had posted the just farmed the Bound that drop gunpowder. Most likely using a perpetual night realm card and choosing a realm that has the bomb throwing bound.

Can also fail the "Simon Says" shrines on purpose to spawn them.

Game needs work on the coast caves. At night they are easier to find because a wall torch marks them but sometimes your lucky enough to spot them in the day but only if ya see a bear or spider scorpion hanging around outside if ya close enough for them to spawn.

Depends on the weapon you are using. You can also use one of the minor cards that doubles ammo yields. It's either the industry or froge card, can't remember off the top of my head

Does anyone know if they have ever seen a Trader sell coal? I need a metric crapton of it and have alot of essence to burn.

Fae Portals, caves, rarely out in the wild. Gotta start looking for it very early and often and be thorough. They will be facing the wall and otherwise a little hard to see, also around the entrances tucked away in corners. If you find a good map then reset it a time or two. For sulphur, same plus run around at night. The bomb throwers always drop them. Find around buildings occasionally. I think the game wants you to be sure and do the portals, break the kegs, so they make mats a bit scarce.

So now you have two threads instead of just looking it up in your guidebook? Really?

So far I've only been forest, and I find caves on the sides of cliffs, often at the edge of water of some kind. Usually there are one or more of bears, spiders and then sulfur, coal and (in the Abeyance/Artisan levels) Shining ore and amber.

Just got 35 or so of ea sulphur n coal on fae portal run. Provisioner Forest. Picked up 9 cans of sulphur because I was out at night for a bit.

he is 100% correct the 3 enemy spots with a fae portal usually turn out to be a cave.

The Fae Portal also leads to mini vaults which have a lot of barrels with coal in them too.

i found both in desert caves, usually along with amber, another elusive mineral. And crack open the gold plated barrels and chests in the vault they tend to have coal and other rare goodies.

Those gilded barrels usually give me fancy ammo but the walk down to the fae portal is littered with all kinds of mineable mats.

The only place ive ever seen a cave in the forest biom. was on the out edges on kinda hard to get to cliffs are so deep into a valley you have to respite to get back out...just to save time. Desert between 0-50 in the caves. Best way is Fea portals once inside Break all the junk containers. you could find as much as 30 coal in 1 portal. that and vaults

You say you have not found such caves, but yet you went on to mention fae portals which I have only seen in caves.

Caves are easy to find on most realm maps you only nee dot look for two things. The fae portal and a clump of POIs all close together.
