Some tips and tricks
Just a few things that I hope can be of help to new(ish) players.

Feel free to add things.

1: The blue bar is sleep/tiredness, not water. You have only one bar for food and water; the green one. If ANY of the bars reach 0, you die. Take care accordingly.

2: Food serves two purposes, satiation and buffs. Both are important, but in particular you want the buffs for tough fights even if you're not hungry.

3: Making and unlocking things. This is based on two things, although early on it's a bit simplified. The first stage is unlocking the recipe. You have crafting stations, augmenters, and you have recipes.

Think of crafting stations as having three locks for each item; all three must be unlocked in order to craft the item.
First, the station needs to be able to build the item. (The lancaster revolver needs a refined workbench).
Second, you need the recipe. (Bass gives you the Lancaster's recipe).
Third, you need the augmenter that enables the recipe on the workstation. (The lancaster needs the saddle bench, enabling the cowboy based recipes, which include the lancaster.).

Some augmenters have a function, like the rain barrel, but usually their main purpose is to unlock items for the corresponding crafting stations.

4: Once the item is unlocked, you need to make it. Most items have a set of values they can affect, and only materials that modify those specific values will give a bonus. For the lancaster pistol, above, copper would give a decent bonus, and is mineable with a rating 40 pickaxe.

5: You need a character equipment rating above certain tresholds to go through the force field walls (to reach the first astrolabe, e.g.). Your power level is based on the average of clothing level(s), and the item YOU ARE HOLDING in your main hand. The highest level item you have to start with is your spyglass. Hold that when you try to go through the first one, if you need a little boost.

6: You can destroy chests for some very nice resources.

#5 Correction: Gear Ranking, not "power level"

Your Gear Ranking can be seen as a number just above your worn gear (clothes/armor) in your inventory dialog. (It took me a while to find this, lol)

#7 To pick up everything in the near area, press and hold E (or your defined key).
(This is also in loading screen tips, but it's useful enough to include anyway)

You'll actually start taking damage before your hunger meter hits 0. My very first death in the game was due to hunger and I actually died when it was at 23/100 because I think your character is considered "hungry" at less than 30/100 and starts taking slow damage over time.

You actually need to keep finding recipes no matter what.

The lv0 cards all share the same npc so don't bother trying to look at essence merchant there.

But the lv20 each biome has their own merchant and if there are 2 or more essence merchant, they will have different recipes on the map.
Then lv40 is the same, you'll probably have to roll around to find some of them.

Do note that recipes sold in a shop is never given to you when you unlock them from a trial/challenge. The ones that gives you recipe are the intellect ones it seems.

Oboron's Bounty (enchantment) is super OP, I found it at a lv30 Astro card for forest from a merchant. It basically enchants tool so you can one shot trees and ore veins.

Warning: Will lag out your game cuz the server will suddenly have to process every single tree you hit within a few seconds rapidly. Like the game will freeze for a few seconds after you destroy the 3rd tree.

Omg yeah. Playing in 3rd person I spent so much time trying to pick up each drop that glitched through the floor until I saw that loading tip after a few days. Life is easy now. :lunar2019laughingpig:

Even overburdened allows FT. Fallout could learn from that...

You can even teleport back to Respite in the middle of combat.

#8: The umbrella can keep more than rain away. In desert, it will protect you from the sun. When jumping, it will let you glide (if you activate that ability - F or space, usually).

#12: Augments unlock recipes you have, as previously mentioned. The limit to the # of augments that can affect a station suggests - strongly - that you should not build all of them; only the ones you want or need. If not, the augment with an item you need might not be counted for that station. (You can build 30+ augments after a while, while a station can only benefit from, for instance, five.

#13: If you attack while holding down block you'll execute a "shove" which in addition to dealing damage, can also knockdown the enemy. It doesn't work 100% on all enemies all the time and there is a slight delay between the player's animation and the enemy getting knocked down. Higher strength stat on the weapon seems to help.

#14: Don't be too afraid to remove portal links. If you use the same combination of cards - and most cards are dirt cheap - you can reopen the portal you went to before, or reset it to a newly generated one. You can also change difficulty for that realm.

If you need to do a bunch of crafting that takes a long time and don't want wait for it to finish, do it at night when you can long rest till morning. You can get your crafting stations going and then go to bed for a long rest. Game will skip to morning and all your crafting is done in an instant.

I always load my stations at night to save a bit of time. A bit situational but it's nice to craft a stack or ingots and lumber or whatever in a flash.
