Yes, heart shots are right behind the front shoulder. As far as tips. attempt them on the big boars, the bears in the forest prov where you get the quest or go try the elephants in the desert. Sneak up as close as you can get and get a broadside angle.

This may just be me, but I think a sneaking shot where the animal inst moving has better luck because of the network lag. I've never scored a heart shot in the heat of battle with things running everywhere. And I don't think it's because I can't aim, I think the game just cant register a shot like that on the hit box appropriately.

This is a frustrating quest, but if you think of it as 50/50 questing and the other half collecting boar parts for salves, food and leather, it's just fine.

Heartshots are easiest to get on 'terran' creatures, because you know roughly where their hearts are. (Consult a hunter's diagram for harts, swine, etc, but it's rouhgly at the 'base' of the chest area. If you see where the front legs join the torso, it's just behind and a bit up from there on deer.)

Since, at the time, you have only the slingbow, at some point shoot at distant dirt/dusty ground so you see impacts better, so you get an idea of fallouff. That will help you aim at the correct height.

For Deer, Wolves, Elephants, Boar, Bison and Hippos, aim at their left rib cage slightly behind the left leg. Also do note that you wont always get the heart shot due to weapon inaccuracy early on. The Sling is horribly inaccurate, the Lancaster Pistol isnt 100% accurate and the Smoothbore Shotgun isnt a slug so chances are you will get a heart shot but maybe not enough pellets hit to get enough damage to kill your target.

Also, something simple but some folks forget. If you are staring at it in the eyes, its left is your right >_>

Also for the Bound I havnt gotten a heart shot iv noticed as of yet...only head shots. So, do they even have hearts?

Elephants in desert. Make sure you're crouched and they haven't detected you. Aim between their head and front left leg as you're facing them. Deers also work but less consistently. This is with the slingshot.

Heart shots does not work when combat starts, it's a sneak damage bonus if you hit the heart and the enemy is unaware. Stealth stats is kinda pointless since they 100% know where you are once they aggro when you damage them.

For Bound, they likely don't have one, since they are always auto-aggroing you.

For Deers and Bears, if you shoot behind their front legs at their torso from the side, as it's impossible from the back.

Thank you so much! Couple of shots on bears and got the heartshots. I had no idea where to hit them. The online documents were saying just above the leg. So thanks again.
