Need advice regarding difficulty (game too easy)
I've started the game thinking that your outfit is the only option there is to increase difficulty. I completely overlooked that beneath your outfit there is another difficulty, called realm difficulty.

Now, I started the game with outfit difficulty on hard and supposedly realm difficulty on medium since this is the default. I found the game way too easy so far, never dies once despite being sloppy in my approach.

I do want to restart the game now so my questions are:

1. Should I increase realm difficulty to hard or right away to extreme?

2. Will the higher difficulty make enemies just more spongy or are there other things involved? The description reads that higher realm difficulties have a higher spawn rate of animals. Does that mean the spawn rate of e.g. wolves is increased to a degree that it simply gets annyoing?

I had to kill my save because it bugged so I started in the pajamas with a lvl 40 realm. It's not as hard as I expected it to be, but most things will kill you in 2 shots. Thing is you can move around really well. What annoys me is that because it's so high risk I cannot use my ranged sling. Too risky. Health and stamina boosts become vital here and so do healing devices, like potions or powders.
Enemy health is also increased. But not by much. I upgraded to the stone axe earlier and it takes about 5-6 shots to kill one of those goblin things up from 3-4 on normal. So yeah, monsters get extra health.

The spawns don't seem any different from normal among animals. Or not that I noticed.

And for extra masochism I used a Blood Moon card. Yeah, game got exciting all of a sudden.

Anyway, I haven't gotten to the bosses yet and no companion either. So I don't know how it will work out.

Anyway, i hope they add a way to adjust difficulty in your home realm.

Realm difficulty can be changed per realm. Anytime you open a portal you can pick the difficulty. Extreme is HARD you'll be level 20 fighting level 60s and getting 2 shot easily. But it's doable and quite fun. A few heart pounding moment trying to doge hippos in the swamp to get a heal off.
I usually set realms to hard for a little challenge. And extreme when Im ready to focus and cheese to get higher tier mats.

You already can? Just open a new Abeyance realm and set it to extreme... like any other realm. Just be aware that it effects the levels in the dungeons. On medium the Antequarian enemies are level 20. On extreme they're 60. On medium the provisioner dungeon enemies are 35, on extreme they're over 100.

This was very helpful, thank you! I'm gonna start on Extreme as well now and see how it goes. Feel free to post your experience with your first boss since I watched one streamer who had big problems with it but I think he didn't understand the game mechanics too well at the time of the video.

Thanks to you as well for the additional info!

have you fight any of those dual blade guys with other trash mobs all together? or you are so careful and always use the way better gear to fight them? those are quite challenging if under geared or even the same gear level

Oh yeah, they annoyed me the most how easy to fight they were. Even my AI buddy killed like 7 of them within a minute without getting seriously wounded. But again, I was playing on medium realm difficulty, and medium is really not my difficulty in games anymore, haha.

Go extreme lol. You're buddy makes a good meat shield for a few seconds before going down.

This switch is actually pointless. At each realm-opening machine if you look at the lower left corner you can select the difficulty there no matter what you set your realm difficulty to during character creation.
You don't have to restart, just make sure you turn up the difficulty next time you open a portal.

I would have preferred the point out that feature during the tutorial.

Yeah, thanks for the clarification! I think the difficulty settings should me more clearer in general. Like I said, I thought the Outfit Difficulty was the only option there is. I didn't even see the Realm Difficulty because I simply clicked "Next" after I had selected my outfit.

Anyways I wanted to start fresh anyway to give the game a better chance to shine.

Aand now I am stuck with the Swamp Portal bug, so 1 hour of char creation and going through the tutorial again is lost. Good times.
