Many of us want multiplayer ONLINE...dont take it away.
i would prefer both official and player servers ONLINE. just because a few have continuous suggestions on forum doesn't speak for everyone !!

Learn to read, they are making an Offline mode, like a toggle, not taking away the Online mode.

the online promise should be completed first as promised. the crying about offline play
has been spammed so much as to stop all other development. Plus majority wants real servers and player servers. you open your eye and see the real spam.

The majority of players never post here. You don't speak for them

Seconded.

"[UPDATE: To address questions we've received, development on other updates (QoL, new content, fixes, bugs and other work) continues uninterrupted and we'll have more news on those to share in the coming days]"

They are not stopping development on anything. Only prioritized releasing offline mode sooner than later due to high demand, which along with dedicated servers I believe, they have said themselves have always been on the table. Jesus it's amazing how many of you are coming out of the woodwork without understanding what's going on, let alone how much you've all blown this out of proportion.

I wouldn't mind forced online, but I would like to actually play the game and an offline mode would garantee that for me.

The servers that I have to connect to are broken...
(Anyone know a cheap vpn or one with a trial?)

[Inflexion] Steph H: Heya Realmwalkers,

Reagrding the announcement above, the offline mode development does not mean we're stopping or de-prioritizing regular feature development, updates, QoL updates, and bug fixes.

We understand concerns and are taking into consideration how offline players could potentially affect online players. We will address these concerns in a future update as we lock down details on this new mode.

The (likely temporary) shift to offline development will bring in bodies for the Early Access development. (No bodies; nobody to check the development against.)

I'm sure the developers know that longevity will come through online group play. Games of the genres similar to Nightingale last longer with group features. The ability to go solo and move right into multiplayer with the online character is a good idea. Taking characters created and stored offline into online play is less of a good idea.

I'm thinking they'll hash out a system to isolate offline-only-no-online-option characters and online-only-no-offline-option characters.

Personally, I don't enjoy waiting up to 2 minutes for a server each time I load into the game or another realm. These are dedicated multiplayer problems in a game that I play as a single player.

Also, it was NEVER on the table to switch online mode for offline mode. It will be an option. Are you against options that will make the game more enjoyable for other players who don't want online HUB anyway, or who don't have good internet connection, or simply just want to enjoy the game as a story-driven survival singleplayer experience?

Most of us...the vast majority feel like you OP but unfortunately we live in a world that caters to the least common denominator so the majority gets to suffer so the tiny minority gets their bottle.
Just how the western world works now.
Menry Feb 23, 2024 @ 5:51am
I'm pretty sure a combination of both would be better for everyone.
Imagine, you are alone on a realm, then everything happens on your machine, no server connection, Then if someone enters your realm, it moves to a server.

That way all of the singleplayer "dorks" don't take up valuable ressources from the servers.
And as a bonus I can finally play the game!

Deva didn't say they where taking it away, just the majority wants to enjoy their experience offline. It's a good thing. Go devs!

It's a video game. The feedback doesn't have to come from the majority in order for them to decide whether or not its an idea worth taking action on.

They aren't taking anything away... You'll still have your always online servers. No population drop really since those that will play offline likely won't play with you to begin with...
What is up with these people so against an offline mode?
The same kind of people that are okay with the fact that they don't own their games and that they could lose access to what they have paid at any time?
An offline mode going live also means that if this game tanks/dies quickly, then people can still play it instead of facing closed servers...
There is no negative to adding an offline mode, only positive since it would increase purchases a LOT... which would increase the longevity of always online servers since they'd have more money to keep those money pits running lmao
