Sounds more like you're burned out of crafting survival games. At least this one has a story with great voice acting. Asking "What's the point" is always kind of dumb. What's the point of minecraft? To build something pretty. That's literally the entire point.
Not true. There is a clear end goal in Minecraft, which is to kill the dragon. For those that like an end goal, that can be it.
I have no idea what the end goal in this game is. I am pretty sure you never escape and make it back to wherever it is your character came from.
I too like a goal, an obvious progression indicator. Normally this is your character level. Pretty sure there is no character level. Or at least a skill tree. Nope.
I didn't see any point and honestly was not having fun with the craft, then craft and improved version of the same thing mechanic. The long waits for crafting are also boring. If you could start it and come back while doing something it would not be bad, but it is all the micromanaging of starting it, waiting, getting the item, and repeating that 10 times that makes it boring.
Take Noita, some people can't finish it with literally 100 hours because they always die, while I finished it in 6 minutes:

Right, but I could do that over and over a hundred times and honestly never get bored until about the 100th time. Since each seed is different. The location of all the resources is different. The dragon is in a different location. The lava is always waiting to kill you if you make one stupid mistake. So nice little 3 hour games. Loved it.
I personally think they released it too soon. Some of your issues are a 'you' thing, as a lot of these games dont have an overarching goal, the main reason people play them is to gather things to make more things that build things to gather more things to build more things, that's literally the loop.
However, this one they have got plans for a longer term goal, and said they have put breadcrumbs for this in the game at this point but nothing more. They would have been better off making a demo for it imo, it's annoyed me they think this is worth putting out for sale and probably wont look at the game again now as to me it smells of greed. Almost like they said 'yeah that'll do lets start charging 'em' with no regard for how that comes across. That shows in the reviews and will surely affect the future of this game, a lot of people will see 'mixed' and look no further, and that's on the devs for not having it ready enough.
I need some kind of goal. As long as I find a goal and have fun getting to that goal. Once I reach the goal, I'll just start over again and do it all over as long as the game allows for some variation and the game isn't exactly the same each time. I might play with a friend, do it a bit different, but when the end goal is reached, that is usually it for me, I quit that character and start over. I just don't see what the goal is here.
No idea what that means, but apparently means I made a mistake. Oh well, was only $30, but I can still hope they will make it into a game actually worth playing
Early, it's a slog as you have nothing, mid game opens up as your variety of choices expand(like farming, now a self made man, etc), late game (farm apex vaults for loot, what not).
Too bad it has no pvp else late game is more... dynamic. E.g Myth of empires, war machines and chaos, guild vs guild, death and destruction... Then it's real whine of being a loser, all the excuses come popping up... lol.
one of which is the namesake city of nightingale isn't present in the current game.
the point of the released game is to reach nightingale. all the crafting and base building you do on the way is to facilitate reaching nightingale.
so right now there is no structured goal. congrats your thread title is 100% correct welcome to early access. you get to playtest an unfinished game and provide feedback to ideally make it better
