Lumen flickering
Hello !
I have played 5 hours for now and so far the game is quite nice. But this is an early access, and it shows ! Many features not implemented, no QoL for some things and you keep doing way more that in other games to get the same.

But my main problem is a problem that I see in almost every Unreal Engine games, especially those that run on the 5th version : the flickering when you have lumen enabled.
It horrendous ! When I go in a grassy environment, Lumen struggles to lit the scene properly I guess. And every plant, grass or flowers are flickering as hell with black noisy shadows.

Here's a clip from my last gameplay : https://clips.twitch.tv/LovelyCleanRaccoonPeanutButterJellyTime-uU7Y5ylD3DO_mJWO

I've tried lowering the details and all but lumen is always on in this game. Is there a way to disable it ? Or just fix the flickering ?

I've seen some vids that show that the problem is known and there are fixes, but it has to be done in the editor... So it's a dev problem ?

I really don't understand... could you help ?
THX !

I have the same issue, Increasing lumen makes it much less visible. But drops my fps by an extreme ammount. I'll continue to play but I hope we see a fix soon. Or just implement hardware ray tracing, I know it's much easier said then done but it's quite an immersion breaking problem

No you see that's not a bug... that's the Fae realm f**king with your OCD. Puck himself is personally causing this just to be chaotic and annoying...

In all honesty though... I wish I could just turn lumen off... anything Ray Tracing based is just needless memory sponge bloatware as far as I care... i'm an old school gamer who prefers the old methods of lighting anyway... but having an option to remove it for me, or enable proper ray tracing for people who want/have it... well that's fine by me. So long as it looks fine to YOU what graphics look ok for you shouldn't matter to anyone else...

Play around with shadow settings. I dont get any flickering or artifact gfx.
I am having the same issue with the shadow shadowy flickers, around the grass. When i move my camera or move around in the world, its awful!

I got the same issue, and I tried changing settings with no success. The game is pretty much unplayable to me like this.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Good to know thanks! :cozyspaceengineersc:

Is there a reason why I can´t enable vertical sync? (Option is there but cannot be enabled)

If you have DLSS Frame Generation enabled, Vertical Sync is disabled. That's all I can think of.

yeah that´s probably it, thanks, I set the game to "optimized" in the gforce settings and I guess that changed that back. It made the foliage look better but now I get screen tearing :P
