End of tutorial portal stuck

At the portal where I am supposed to open a portal to my abeyance realm, I kill all rounds of enemies, then the portal just remains in process of opening. I waited about 20 minutes like this thinking maybe the servers were slow. Even almost starved. Is this common?

its a bug, you either just log out wait for the instance to time out (no idea how long this takes) or make a new character and try it again.

From what I've seen, wait at least 15 minutes after you log out to try it again.

At my home realm, I've seen an occasional disconnect and then about 15 minutes before I can log back in.

As soon as the portal appears you need to go in it even if there are creatures around. If you don't it will close and you will be stuck and have to start over again.

Waiting a bit isn't a bad idea, the devs. even recommend waiting for a while to see if it opens, but It may never re-set or time out. A friend had this bug and even a day later it persisted when they loaded up again, waiting over 30 minutes while logged in when it initially happened didn't help either. Until they fix the bug players are probably far better off to just make a new character and rush through the tutorial. You can get through it in about 15 min if you don't dawdle. My friend was able to get through it on the second attempt.

Apparently not fighting the enemy near the portal and making sure you don't die help prevent the bug - but I can't confirm if either of these things actually make a difference or not.

Yeah, the second character I made was able to get through after killing only the first wave of enemies because the portal opened early. When my friend re-played this section they had to fight all of the waves and the portal simply stayed open like it should. Whole thing seems really buggy so I hope they fix it or put in a "skip tutorial" option in the menu so if you get the bug you can just bypass it and keep going.

Unfortunately, the bug has been known for 9 days and some have the same error again with the new char...

9 days and no fix or workaround for a gamebreaking bug that some have...

I have returned the game because of this. If they need so long for a gamebreaking bug, how long do they need for other important things ?
and no EA is really not an excuse. Something like this has to be fixed immediately.

PS : Supposedly it really helps not to fight the monsters with the new character... At least it did for some... others are still stuck :(

I encountered this bug and sent my logs in a bug report on Feb. 22. Just logged in to the character again to see if anything had changed, and it didn't. Went and did other stuff with the character by the portal for half and hour to see if waiting long enough would get it to connect, and it didn't. I have two characters that did get to the portal, but man is it tedious to have to replay the tutorial over and over.

Had to try it for 3 times until it finally worked. I thought about trying with another character; however, this character had the name I really wanted to use to be consistent with other games I play with a group of friends.

still a problem, just ran into this on a second character after destroying my portal to my Farm set-up with most of my gear there
