Magic doesn't scale past around 300.
Damage on spells caps at around 600 for Quake (900 crit) and 240 for swarm. The radius also doesn't expand for spells like Ring of Empowerment. This is with magic level 250.

I've tested magic scaling up to around 850 and noticed no difference between ~300 and ~850.

Just a heads up for those, like myself, who invested a lot of time into pumping their magic stat.

Thx for the heads up. I was scaling magic, almost at 600 damage for Quake.

Do you know how to have more than one spell active at a time?
Rhodes Feb 28, 2024 @ 5:32am
Nope. I dont know if its intentional, but I haven't found a workaround. Makes many of the spells useless in combat.

There is magic in this game? I'm only at gear score 55 but I haven't found any spells or anything.

The Recovery Spells scales rly hard with magic.
After i crafted a new Amor Set with ~100 more magic than the old one the Heal goes from around 300 Hp to 800 HP.

Im currently over 1,1k magic and can indeed confirm it makes no sense past 300

That is disheartening, i hope it is unintended.

I think the point is to have a cap for each spell, so that they can create new ones that are a larger magnitude for higher tiers and late game content.

Right now the spells are a bit spread out to keep players grinding to keep collecting them.

Good to know.. be nice to hear a comment from the devs on this whether it's a bug or intended.. some dude said he made a pistol that could do 9999 damage so.. why would they gimp magic.

Have we tried crafting spells with varying quality items to see if anything improves?

wrong,use ferocity.
ThePoetZiggy Mar 12, 2024 @ 2:23pm
Charms of flanking, ferocity, and brutality works on spells just fyi. Ferocity activated the bonus on Quake and 2h weapons have higher damage caps for spells in some cases..my quakes hit prone enemies for 4.2k

Worth mentioning that it might not be gimped... this is EA and more spells / epic clothing could come along later that could make the current spells seem feeble, whereas the guns, etc matured much quicker in what we think is endgame but is probably "mid-game" once EA is over. But.... we judge based on what we know and right now magic is a little weak.

To the question posed by OP, no it is not worth investing in magic after 300 IMHO.
TBH, I only use Quake these days (late end game). It's great for CC. The damage I'm getting is averaging around 1k but it's really about the CC. Even with charms, it doesn't keep up with melee.
I wish they'd remove the cap on Swarm - that would make it competitive with the ranged weapons and let us see how magic competes at high levels.

The other end of that stick is that since ingot folding was deemed an exploit, there's no way to say that pistol's damage numbers are legitimate. It's entirely possible that the numbers we're throwing at ~ 300 magic is supposed to be the top end, and it's the pistol that's out of scale.

I've not gotten to "end-game" yet so I don't really know what I'm talking about, but outlier numbers are (by definition) the exception, not the rule.
