make the shelves bigger so we can put stuff on them!
the wall mounted shelf is currently useless. i cant put any augments on it at all even if they are small...so whats the point of them?
ive managed to sneak the steamer trunks on the utility shelf but its a real pain trying to get them on there and half the time they only fit backwards for some reason. let us just snap to the damn shelf with the trunk please.

I think it should be obvious to everyone that the art assets were not created with any specific intent. It feels like they were created for a different game. That's why some augmentations have nothing to do with the item being crafted. That's why you have small chests that can magically hold more then bigger ones. It's why all of the smelting workstations have their own anvil but there's a separate anvil augment. Nothing makes sense because no thought was put into it. They made a bunch of assets with no connection to gameplay and then shoehorned them in.

My current theory is the original devs, those that made the trailer, set up the marketing left at some point, probably about the time it went from MMO to survival. There was probably a lot of thought but those folks left and the devs left or hired post-apocalypse dunna know quite what to do with it all so they just kind of let it all be. Rather than make some hard choices they just kept all the stuffs there had been made and dug into a hat to decide what went with what. Perfect example, the tea set, cannon, huge construction apparatus. Like wha? And chests that don't fit in shelving, shelves that are useless, maps that sit on the floor (yeah, I always put my maps on the floor). There's just so much goofy ♥♥♥♥ in this game. The UI? Woof, it's a head scratcher.

You are also prohibited from using them in any kind of creative or aesthetic way because of the absurdly low item cap.

That part of the game is just terribly designed and I can not fathom how it ever went further than a bullet point on a whiteboard from an intern that were then laughed out of the room.

"We're making a game that's heavily focused on building cool estates. That's what we're actively marketing it as. How about we prevent people from doing so, by means of a hard cap on decorative items? Great idea, right?"

I found a way to stack the wooden chest on top of each other, Place a row of chest then place the standing shelves in front of your chest, now it should let you stack the blue prints on top of the bottom row of chest. It might take a while to get them aligned right though. I was annoyed when i noticed the shelves wouldn't fit them.

My favorite UI quirk; playing the "where did they put the close button this time" game.

Is it on the top right side? The bottom right side? The bottom LEFT side? Or maybe its not there becasue you hit ESC instead...

Personally, I would love to see them do like a few other survival-building games and make a set of shelves that can hold chests too. I know of quite a few games like that where they have added the shelving in for the storage crates.

My biggest beef with these items is when you look at them, it says having said item grants "X" recipes. But you still have to find said recipes around the world before you can use them. What's the point in having furniture items that "unlock" recipes if they don't actually open recipes? Maybe I am missing something.

you will eventually find a large 3 tiered long shelving unit recipe that will provide plenty of space to organize items or what not for crafting augments. Once you know whats used for what you can move stuff to and from the shelf.

Why are the first chests too large to fit in shelf units? larger capacity chests are smaller and do fit. You can put down a simple table then tuck a weathered chest under it and one on top. That is pretty ok for early game but there stands the tiered shelf next to it, useless. Shakes head. When something so simple makes no sense...

I use the Tiered shelf for all the Station Augments, put a shelf up near the stations and stack all the little Augments on the shelves but yeah we need a shelving unit the chests would/will actually snap into. I know building/survival games WAY cheaper made then this one that has them.

Mostly its about building limits. If we are going to have strict limits then the game should help us just a bit more. Or they could get rid of about 50% of the randomly different items that don't stack. Inventory nightmare from hell.
AnExiledOne Mar 11, 2024 @ 12:39pm
The build limits are temporary as already stated by the devs who intend to raise it in the future. There are multiple shelves and multiple chests, some of which do fit various things
