Eager to try Nightingale but yes mounts and housing are essential in games nowadays. And if you do not believe me on mounts, well check what Starfield did after a year of denying vehicles are a thing.
And even better, give us bicycles - now that will fit Nightingale lovely :)
Joke aside. I think mounts in games are overdone. Would love an air ship, or even a hot air balloon that you can deploy in a realm to use your spyglass and see what the realm has to offer.
I liked Welkin's Reach, where getting up to a high point was always achievable. The game doesn't need mounts- it does need a few more ways of making on-foot traversal options have a little more oomph.
A spell that temporarily summoned one of those launching circles would be a nice start. I could see surfing a wave of dirt, or maybe a cloud, being useful- something that gave you a little half-meter cushion to gloss over terrain obstacles and let you move faster, but gave you a lot of omni-directional drift in exchange- that sort of thing.
Anything but another re-skinned horse, please. Everything is too close together to have to go through a mount/dismount animation every 3 seconds because you're locked into a "you can do nothing but move very slightly faster" mode that gets in the way of doing absolutely anything about anything whatsoever you might see.
Or a Chopbrella, i mean a spinning Umbrella that lifts you ...somewhere. Think that would fit with some mystic info of "This Umbrella hotojo...Fae thingeling whoooOoo everywhere but beware".
..and maybe the already existing Motor.
And while were already there.
Can i have the Outfit from Rihanna pls, on my Workbench?
Pls no Petties again...
Unlike "its on My Wish-list" here I have actually played for a couple of hundred hours and can say with a bit more credibility: Mounts are wholly unnecessary here as things stand.
Maps are really small.
Despite that, Teleport pads can be set for repeat journies and a fresh map can be crossed and crisscrossed in about an hour (Every square checked) on foot using properly configured umbrella for jump glide movement.
That's already too fast for decent immersion
Don't want mounts? Then don't use them. Your opinion doesn't override all the people here who do want them added.
It's not solely about mobility. It's also about roleplay, creature collection, that added aspect of farming, virtual companionship, aesthetic, the list goes on. All the same reasons people like games like Pokemon, Stardew Valley, Ark Survival Evolved, Black Desert, and countless other games that incorporate taming/capturing/buying/breeding animals. There are many reasons to want pets and mounts in games, and those reasons aren't all revolving around necessarily needing more mobility. Pets, mounts, and animal farming/breeding adds a lot more interest to games and will draw in a much larger demographic.
Yes, we got the Umbrella for traveling, and there are ways to make this possible by more than just "glide down". Meaning, they could give us some options to make use of those features throught the journey, and not just at rare spots. Welkin's Reach had several of those "jump circles" but they were barely visible from the distance and in comparison, placed rarely.
As you suggest, a spell to place such a field would be great. Maybe even a triggerable ability/enchantment that gives us an updraft when gliding, as we have with some of the agility tests (the one where we have to glide through circles)
Those features are already implemented, they just need to be useable.
Mounts sound interesting at first, but we don't really need them, and I think they wouldn't even make sense lore-wise.
And yes we could place lode-stones for teleporting within the realm, but then you'd have to carry those ressources around to place them, and you still have to get somewhere to place them. But for most areas, once you're done, you don't need the teleporters anymore. So they're practically a waste of time AND ressources.... So I'm all for improving traversing with the Umbrella and features we already have!
