How do I know what an infusion can be applied to?
I made a resolve (stamina) infusion only to find I can't apply it to the shirt or axe I upgraded. Is there somwhere that tells me what each infusion can actually apply to as opposed to random trial and error using up a lot of t1 essence I'm not getting quikcly?

That seems designed to confuse people trying to figure out this "craft, apply an infusion" questline. All the tools use stamina when attacking/harvesting but not stamina to receive an infusion and it doesn't give any guidance where they can go in the quest/crafting or other descriptions. Guess I'll try a different infusion and see if I can put it anywhere.

click on the infusion, a box appears. There is option for apply. If it is grayed out then you can't use it on anything. If it is lit up, click it and the items it can be applied to appear. Remember, only one green infusion per item. It's a bit overcomplicated and unintuitive. like the rest of crafting in this game.

when you mouse over gear you see the stats - only infusions that include one of those stats that are already on the item can be put on the item. tools do not give hp, stam, hp regen or stam regen so those types of infusions will not go on them. Strength, durability, stamina efficiency (sickle, knife), block efficiency (axe, pick), magik, stealth (knife, sickle), melee damage, critical damage should all work though if you have infusions for those. one infusion per item quality (so uncommon 1 infusion, rare 2 infusions, epic 3 infusions).

Oh I get that (now) but when I was trying to do the quest I saw "Infusion stamina" and + stamina in the gear I had. I didn't realize it refered to a different stamin stat than the stamina + on the shirt.

Except there is a recovery enchantment, that can only be applied to some items. No items have recovery to begin with, or is it just called something different?

No way this isn't as confusing as possible. Although most of the game is confusing. At least I know understand it slightly better than before :steamhappy:

There currently is no system for figuring this out, other then trial and error. And as others said, if the item doesn't have the stat there's nothing for an infusion to add too.

You can either write them down, or (what I do) is just keep all your old items and take a look at them to remind yourself.

So far I just put an enchantment I want (I mean like 1 in 10 seems useful) into my inventory, then try and apply it. I'm either pleasantly surprised it goes where I want, or annoyed that it does not :steammocking:

At some point I might actually get to where I figure this out, but I suspect it will be like 4 types being all I need out of the 30 or 40 things they have to modify your equipment.

I see another that people use, which is quake. So far I've only used recovery. This is one good thing about the watch. You get to see what others are doing. Sometimes it is just wondering what the heck is going on. Quake looks very odd when it is one floor down below you (at least I suspect that is what is going on).

enchantments are spells you cast, and only seem to be able to go on tools. Infusions are stat buffs (like max health) that can go on equipment that already has that stat (so max health only goes on items that give health, which is clothing but not weapons or tools). Charms are special effects (and I'm not sure what controls where they go). Tools get up to 3 enchant slots, tools/weapons/clothing get up to 3 infusion slots (both dependent on the quality of the gear - green/blue/purple for 1/2/3 slots). charms is limit to 1 per item. and for infusions you can not put 2 of the same type on (so only 1 max health infusion on a piece of clothing)

It wouldn't bug me as much if I weren't trying to get enough T1 essence to upgrade all my tools/geear and I just spent 25 of it on something that apparently can only go on the last thing I'd upgrade. It also inadvertently lead to me completing the next part of the quest chain (find a synchronous lotus) as I had to go out and get more essence and accidentally found one.
