That one piece of information, which I just verified, has singlehandedly made me remove the game from my wishlist. I thank you for pointing that out.

as objective data. If you go to the Nightingale forum and the subject of the game doesn't seem like fantasy to you .... See a mental health professional. For your sake and everyone else's
For those who are new to the thread and only read the last message. What we all want here is an offline mode and that requires that we have the ability to have private servers. No one is against having online or official servers. But we are against the imposition of them. Thanks again to all of you.
I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while. But I have to make sure online only isn't the case.
No, I don't think they have said how they will fund the game servers, nor have they said they will have dedicated servers outside of their EA servers.
Many games offer dedicated server options:
Minecraft, Palworld, Enshrouded, Valheim, 7 Days to Die, Ark, Astroneer, Core Keeper, Counter Strike, etc.
The benefits are better performance, control over the server (restart if needed, run updates, stay on older updates, change settings, restrict access, etc.), and 24/7 access for friends and family or whoever you allow on the server.
Minecraft has offered something similar to the Nightingale method of multiple "realms". Mods allow connecting multiple servers together. Some, or most, of the major Minecraft servers do this. We used to do this to allow various settings for different worlds, resets for mining specific worlds, etc.
I really like the idea and hope it works well. I also like the idea of it being hosted...if it is something I can choose to pay for to avoid micro-transactions.
They will have to pay for the servers somehow, and it won't be through the $29 purchase price.
Cosmetic stores are not something I find appealing. I'd rather just pay money toward a realm, like how Minecraft offers realms (although Minecraft realms are underpowered and too cheap...and they don't have an option to upgrade!).
Maybe they will offer the dedicated server at some point so players can build their own network of Nightingale realms. Also, no reason they couldn't have official and non-official servers allow players to move between.
Here is some of the FAQ from the Discord:
"...**Q. Is Nightingale singleplayer or multiplayer?**
A. You can play Nightingale solo or with friends with up to 6 people in a party.
...
**Q. How much will Nightingale cost?**
A. Nightingale will launch at $29.99 USD.
**Q. Will there be microtransations?**
A. We won’t lock progression or gameplay behind paywalls/microtransactions. There may be cosmetic purchases but we’re still figuring that out and will have more details closer to the Early Access launch.
**Q. Will there be dedicated servers?**
A. We will have Official Dedicated servers as part of the game, but we will not have private server support for the initial Early Access launch. We talk more about it here: <https://youtu.be/piDLsKXvcKg?t=172>..."
i'm still buying into early access, the price is cheap enough that return on investment wont be a high bar to clear. if the servers get shutdown and the game becomes non-functional 30HRs of gameplay will feel like i've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my moneys worth. i should be able to get that from it with what i've seen
I guess I'll keep waiting... When it's confirmed I might get the game.
Well, that's a glass-half-empty viewpoint :D
We'll confirm any offline mode more formally if/when it happens in the future (i.e. in a Dev Update most likely).
too meny times have we all been burned by always online requirement either being in location where the game is just unplayable do to latency or the servers go down with the the first few months of a game being out and never able to play the game again i can understand to a degree why youed go that rout to reduces piracy but at the same time seams like a huge gamble to players especially with an early access title also from an out side looking in just seams like unnecessary allocation of funds to servers rather then development your going to have a huge uphill battle it looks like a grate title but i like meany other will be holding off though just prepare your self for mass down votes just look at games like payday 3 people are tired of losing access to there games its as simple as that
Thank you for responding, Three customers in my household will hold off on purchasing till offline option is added.
