So...
Not doing it again here.
Seen TenCent ruin too much.
I thought this game would be better and I really love indie devs.
Until they sell out to a plague like TenCent.
Oh well.
Not my problem.
Bye.
Beside that, Funcom already selling multible Cosmetic DLCs so what?
So yes, bye, we wont miss you.
Imagine thinking that just because something is cosmetics, it can't be corporate predatory abuse...
There is alot more real things in this World to really worry about.
And for a "Predator", there has to be a Victim.
This is absolutely part of that, though. Corporations are ruining the world, and abusing customers in a myriad ways.
This may just be a small part of that, but it's a part nonetheless.
There absolutely are victims.
I can't speak of Conan specifically, as I don't know the details of that exact situation, but in a general sense, lives absolutely get ruined because of predatory microtransactions of "just cosmetics".
My point is that dismissing something as "just cosmetics" and not applying critical thought to the underlying structure of that situation is playing right into their hands and exactly the kind of mentality that keeps not only letting them get away with what they're doing, but which allows them to keep getting worse and worse with little to no resistance.
By posting on a forum "It's just cosmetics! Stop complaining!", that makes you directly part of the problem, and (hopefully) an unwitting agent of corporate greed.
Well, either that or you're a shill and know exactly what you're doing.
Why do those People not seek proffesional Help instead....?
if we cut everything off just because of...."sorry"... ill People, we would still sitting Fur covered in Caves.....
I'm not saying they shouldn't exist at all, I'm just saying that completely hand-waving away predatory business practices because "it's just cosmetics" is a horrible approach to things.
Not all cosmetics are like that, but many are, and each case has to be considered on its own merits.
If we dismiss anything automatically because "just cosmetics" are involved, we're falling right into their hands.
That's some really impressive victim-blaming you've got there.
Are you saying you're perfectly fine with multinational megacorporations carefully crafting their products to abuse people's mental weaknesses to try and squeeze as much money from them as possible, no matter the cost, and that you don't mind that they're using the vast majority of people who don't "fall for it" as an extra tool to corral their victims towards their inevitable doom?
Because that's what it sounds like you're saying.
And if that's the case, I guess I have nothing further to add and this discussion is over.
Has a stake in games i play and love?I VERY highly doubt that.Yes Tencent jumps on the bandwagon of successful games like buying into Blizz/Acti to garner some profits from COD and cashing in to acquire a % of Riot and Epic but that is not quite the same and i don't like LOL or FN anyhow those are what i would expect from Tencent CHEAPLY made games with cash shops a guarantee i look the other way.
Its only bad news WHEN and IF it happens. All this is speculation till it happens. So if your "out" based on 0 information. K bye, we'll see you when it comes out.
It's bad news regardless, because supporting this game means supporting Tencent.
It's worse news when/if those things happen.
But even if the game is a masterpiece, with no extra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, you're still giving Tencent money.
Tencent doesn't own every company... yet.
I especially hate how they're buying up companies left and right, so now a bunch of older games I bought years ago are technically Tencent games.
Not that Tencent games are the only ones I won't touch, but yeah... can't say I'm happy with what the industry's doing these days.
A large minority stake means they have significant influence. A majority stake means they can pretty much do what they want, owned in all but name.
Nevermind that they regularly buy up companies entirely, and these are often companies they first had some shares of.
So in this specific case, even if Tencent isn't a 100% owner (yet), the fact that they have a majority stake means that: a) they can pretty much dictate whatever they want to happen and b) a full buy-out is more likely in the future, depending on how things go.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone who chooses to align themselves with Tencent isn't someone I want to support.
