Scuffed lag spikes.
I happen to have a pretty mediocre computer that should be able to run this well
(i3-10105F CPU with 16GB RAM with integrated graphics), and it usually does run well with the smooth settings on, but I happen to have massive issues sometimes with big lag spikes, where the game runs like buns for no apparent reason, and I've lost multiple games now because of awful lag spikes that shouldn't be happening.

Anything to possibly help this case?

you sure lag is not because of your internet? do you check the ping time? its at the bottom left of the screen. around and under 110-130 is good. till 150-180 is also playable with not too much effect on game result. more than that is not playable, it affects your play quality beyond control.

There's nothing you can do servers where downsized/merged and removed most of the issues you'll encounter are more than likely not gonna be user side , there's multiple reason why this game continues to go under on the global scale and the ongoing server issues is just 1 of them... The least you can do is ensure that you connection is stable by running a online stability test or pinging something like google for an extended period on wired connection or you can try finding a ping booster that offers better routes to see if that will give you any results (battle ping/exit lag/gear up) they should offer free trials.

I should have mentioned that this isnt an internet issue. It is literal frame lag. If it was an internet issue I would have checked my ping already. This is stuff I already know.
If there's any way to fix my constant, annoying frame drops, then please tell me.

if i were you i would lower my graphic setting and look in task manager to check if any specific hardware is under full pressure. to me a good setup for game is one that does not put too much stress on any hardware. no more than 80 percent of cpu or ram should be engaged.

I like how I said I was on smooth settings (the lowest preset as far as I can tell) and yet im told to make them lower.

i get it. you can still lower the resolution to test with it.
