🛠️ Demo Optimization Help!
For folks who can open the game but have some trouble running at playable framerates, please try these solutions to see if they help you at all:

Resetting Video Setting Defaults
These steps require un-hiding your Hidden Files to locate the proper folders.

To reset your in-game settings manually (locked out due to crashes, etc.), please find your Config file at roughly this path:
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Sanka\Saved\Config\Windows\GameUserSettings.ini
This same folder also holds all of your crash dumps, which contains vital information for our developers:
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Sanka\Saved\Config\Windows

Set Graphics Preset to "Low"
The default Graphics preset is set to "High", which will be too much for lower spec PCs. You can adjust the Graphics Preset all the way down to "Low" in your Video Settings.

Disable Hardware Raytracing
Hardware Raytracing is on by default, but it can cause a lot of lag on lower end PCs, You can disable Hardware Raytracing in the Video Settings.

NPC Densities
Under the Game settings, change your Traffic Density and Pedestrian Density to Low, which will help significantly with performance.

PSO Caching
When you download the game for the first time, the game will still be rendering a few Shaders in the background. This can cause significant lag for the first few minutes of Gameplay, and it can cause short ~3 second lag spikes whenever you look at a new Texture (for example by ramming a car or by driving around on the map and looking at stuff.) The best thing here is to just wait it out. The good news is that this will only happen after downloading the game for the first time, once the textures have been rendered, it will never happen again!

Side Note: This is also why the very first loading screen can take a few minutes, don't panic!

Lower Resolution Scaling
You can go into your Settings Menu and lower the Resolution scaling. If you have a weak Graphics Card, then the lower you set it, the less lag you will have.

Thanks, this really helped! I have a 3080 and my lag and fps was awful!

Hm, I don't expect a perfect performance from a demo, especially on my laptop, but even with DLSS on and lowered settings, I don't have stable 30FPS on medium settings. Even with low settings it is around 25-30+. I mean I can play Cyberpunk and Star Citizen with better FPS... (latest nvidia driver is used).

Ryzen 7 5800H
16GB RAM
RTX 3080 Mobile (16GB VRAM dedicated)
Installed on internal SSD

So it is okay to work with dips below 30 FPS and I'll give it another go, but yes even on my laptop I would expect 30+ FPS for a game looking like this (sorry) and with RT off and DLSS on. Will there be further optimizations? is it just me? (I played the first mission and I'm not talking about shader cache stutter or so, the game is just usually under 30 FPS for me).

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback! It's an understandable expectation to have, I'd argue. Please allow me to include some additional context:

This Demo was not a planned campaigned beat for Ambulance Life and so we knew it was going to wreak havoc on some systems out there. This event was a more of an impromptu surprise gift for the community who have been eager but very patient the last 380 or so days. As a result, this Demo is not as optimized as it certainly could have been under different circumstances.

Red Engine and Star Engine are both very different development experiences than Unreal Engine 5, which is notoriously resource-hungry and taxes even the most powerful systems at times. The final game is already more optimized than this Demo, but along with the guidance above, we will be pushing out at least one patch to hopefully alleviate some of the performance issues people are experiencing.

Thank you again for your thoughts! It's all important learnings for us, in the end!

Jesus christ the Performance is really bad :/
I have a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and RX 7800 XT 16GB.
I can play all Games on Ultra with RT. But this... i hope its really only the demo.
On Ultra i have 35 fps.
If i go down with the graphic settings i get more fps but it feels blurry and my Graphic Cards gets bored at 66 % usage...

Boa tarde, instalei o jogo e funcionou normalmente. Fui baixar os gráficos, eles estavam muito pesados e agora não carregam mais. Desinstalei e instalei, não quer funcionar. Preciso de ajuda, o que devo fazer?

What that means, and can it be fixed?

Thank you everyone! I won't be able to respond to everyone, but we're currently collecting EVERYTHING from the Steam forums, social media, and our Discord.

This is all amazing information while we compile a patch for the Demo, upcoming soon! THANK YOU ALL!
