An MMO cant survive without microtransactions unfortunately, unless this game decides to sell expansions? (the property pass sounds kinda weird). Ill take anything I can get over what we currently have, especially something as ambitious as this game looks.
There also have been some pretty good EA games in a sea of disappointments like Palworld so I dont immediately dismiss them, just cautiously optimistic is all. Like I said I only backed the game because I have read how cost intensive an MMO is to even fathom.
yes it can its called monthly fee which is what it used to be and the MMOs where better, and more immersive. I personally would rather pay $25 or even $30 a month than have micro transactions
I hate all the MMOs that are out right now except when I recently tried Guild Wars 2. Cause they all seem to be pretty mediocre in some way while also charging a monthly fee. So that is kind of becoming less popular now, unless you are rich and dont mind, or only play that one game for the entire subscription to get your value.
All the MMOs that charge a subscription dont actually feel like they justify the cost in a meaningful way most of the time, locking most of the basic features like inventory or renaming characters behind an additional paywall. Not even mentioning the technical debt these systems are in for being so old by now.
Now this game might convince me to pay a subscription just because its finally a new and exciting take on the genre. Something players like me have been waiting for years for, the last MMO I played seriously was Trove in like 2015 and Maplestory 2 before it shut down.
EA = Early Access and there have been plenty Early Access games that have been good.
Yup. Minecraft was EA (just not on steam). It was a fun playable game when I started playing it, when it was basically in alpha. You can get good games from EA if the company manages its money right.
