Just beat the game. So, what was the point of [SPOILERS]
Dail? He doesn't seem to do or contribute anything to either the gameplay or the story. I thought with how much everyone seemed to dislike him and how much he kept reiterating that he had no intention of doing anything that there was going to be some sort of twist where either he turns out evil or being controlled, or somehow manage to bumble his way into helping Arzette unintentionally, especially since he apparently helped Arzette fight off Daimur a decade before.

But nothing like that happens, the story literally would have been the exact same had he not even existed at all. Felt pointless to have a character where supposedly he was a hero in the past, but hes a coward and everyone dislikes him now, and... have that just go absolutely nowhere or do nothing with it.

He is just there for comedic relief and since this game is based on Zelda Cdi he's a stand in for Link and I think he's played by the same actor.

Well, historically, Link technically had no part in Wand of Gamelon once Zelda started the adventure, so Dail not having any part in the story here is also kind of on point.

I expect any sequel(Or prequel) to be 100% all Dail all day long though.

Link was captured after the intro though and wasn't in the story at all until you rescue him in the ending, he wasn't there but just refusing to do anything and basically adding nothing to the story.

I somehow doubt that and even if, Dail will fail so dramatically at the end, that Azretta is forced to save him. That's the modern world for you today.
