Some concerns i'm having
While i'm absolutely ecstatic the game is returning; The low price & no micro-transactions has me a little concerned over the longevity of the game.

While yes, people hate micro-transactions, I still think cosmetic micro-transactions are fine (as long as you can earn them by playing as well). What will sustain the actual server upkeep?

Edit; We've just been told by a mod on the GoGiantic Discord there will be "Very limited/no development"

This kind of feels like it might die due to lack of development.

To be fair, it was only just announced. I'd consider waiting to get more info on this.

They confirmed zero micro-transactions

It's a Gearbox thing so "zero micro-transactions" sounds too good to be true. But if they stick to their word then yeah $19.99 is an excellent price tag for folks to pay.

I really hope they've made improvements to the game if they plan on paywalling it. As in, buttery smooth performance on modern gaming PCs, no 60 fps cap. But from the trailer, it doesn't look like they've done this...

I've used the Haven build for a short while and had no performance issues. 60fps cap is perfectly fine to be honest, going over 60fps (especially in a team shooter) would be overkill.

Update; We've just been told by a mod on the GoGiantic Discord there will be "Very limited/no development"

This might get the game killed off again

60 fps caps feel absolutely horrible depending on the type of game. I played this in PC when it first came out and the 60fps cap is what made me stop playing almost immediately.

Definitely temper expectations.

i feel the same way there's no way this game will last if it doesn't have a constant revenue stream. They could've easily monetized and the community would've been happy to just get their game back. They could do what deep rock galactic does and add dlc cosmetics which i would be happy to support.

Maybe it's fine for you, but for the rest of us who are living in 2024 it's not fine at all. I found the previous playtest very choppy. The game is very fast-paced and would benefit greatly from higher framerates.

It sounds like an issue with your pc and playing a UE3 game

I would have to disagree. I run a 120hz monitor, and I can FEEL a difference when a game is locked to 60. I can easily see the FPS loss.

It's a definite wait and see. They cash-grabbed it the first time by having no servers and if they do it again then you know what they say about being fooled for the second time.

They definitely did not cash grab the first time and were completely open about the issues they had.
