If they're serious about reviving development, i'm sceptical of their ability to sustain a community with a $20 price tag. How does $20 complete with Overwatch, League, Smite, even Paladins?...
Honestly I don't even know if $20 is worth it from my experience with the previous playtest, if they haven't made improvements to performance.

19,99 price tag when it had issues maintaining a healthy playerbase through its survial period? Im really sceptic about this decision - let alone that seemingly there are no real changes from the free-to-play version that "failed" to the 19,99 version they bring now.

They won't - As far as im aware, noone who developed the game is involved anymore and continuing a code that you didnt create is extremely difficult if at all possible. As far as I see, already existing things, like for example the closed off/smaller areas of the original maps were reused to make the new game mode etc. But dont expect anything more than that.

There is a new game mode, new heroes and maps, and the game is being made available in places where it didn't used to be before. As someone who played this game till it's last days, I can definitely say there was an effort into making solid changes for this new version.
Ever since Battleborn I have been very skeptical or weary when it comes to any multiplayer games published by Gearbox.

Having a $20 price tag on a game of this genre is already a bad idea when there are many F2P options to choose from. I can see people who enjoyed Gigantic before it shutdown buying it but I can't see it bringing in that many new players.

As someone who worked with Motiga on the game I can tell you that most of the things we know of, were old, almost finished models, assets and parts of maps that were worked on when the Motiga Team was still active - additionally they (on the new Gigantic Discord) themselves said there will be no/minimal development

If you click on their name here on the store page the portfolio of games looks like a porting-studio that handles the outlines of a game - like for example taking a dead game, taking its "internal, almost finished WIP-Assets" and putting them together to make a playable version of it 8 years later.

I'm excited to play it since I missed the ability to the last time, but this isn't a good thing for the long term of the game. You can't sustain development long term on $20 no MTX.

From what they have stated: Their plans seem to be adding a ranked mode and some cosmetic skins, and nothing else. It sounds like they have no plans to sustain this in the long run, anyway. Motiga, the OG developers of the game, have been long gone and only they know the inner workings of the game, so I doubt they could make big updates to the game, even if they wanted it.

Maybe if the game gets enough sales and attention, this could convince Gearbox to fund a sequel/successor, but as it stands now: I personally feel that only reason they're releasing it as it is is because they've been sitting on this IP for awhile and figured they could release it to make some smaller income from it.

They NEED to have a sustainable business model. I can see selling skins as a viable means.

They know enough about the engine to add new characters, add new maps, and add new cosmetics, and do balance changes, and add a ranked mode, I'm not really sure what else they need to know tbh.

But make no mistake, we know EXACTLY why they are releasing this. Embracer's merger with Gearbox back in 2021 had 1 billion USD of stock and residuals in cash (360m in stock, rest cash) locked behind hitting certain financial and operational targets by 2027. This is a very low cost (barely had to do anything to it) potentially high return (in comparison) investment that helps Gearbox reach said targets.

Here's a proper answer:
https://abstraction.games/
https://abstraction.games/games
https://abstraction.games/softography

They seem to be a game company that specializes in creative co-development and game adaptations—assisting other companies with their games, I believe.

I was wary of them too until I did a little research on what they were all about. They helped with previous games I really enjoyed, unbeknownst to me, and it appears that they're trustworthy.

They may have been passionate about the game, much like us, and decided to adopt it.
