Let's Talk About Summoning
I think summoning creatures is the most confusing part of the game for newer players (and I also need a refresher). Let's talk about which creatures you prefer to summon and why.

I see so many people summon the Cyclops, which does seem good because it gives a big wall and seems great for team and creature survivability, but there must be reasons to play other ones. The demon and the dragon came out after I stopped playing the original release of the game, so I'm not even sure how good they are.

How important is it to actually upgrade your creatures? Using up a Focus point that could be used to swing a team fight seems like a steep cost.

Dragons are good for center points IF you can maintain control. The 3 focus upgrades are expensive though and will take a bit, but they can hold down points for awhile. Usually requiring like 2-3 people to focus it down

Demon is 50/50 depending on point, gives a warp to a nearby locale depending on where its placed. This spot shifts during clashes most of the time as well.

Upgraded creatures also grab energy faster. Say theres a tie at 80-80 energy, the last node is spawning at a back point. If the enemies creature is upgraded, it'll snag first and grab THEM a rampage. Course you can also get 2 kills, but sometimes its all down to creature control for back points. Usually you can just drop a 1-2 cost cyclops or bloomer and let them grab quick power

the obelisk are good to sabotage the other team. placing them on their back node will prevent them from taking it and the large health pool will take some time to go through. maintaining defense of it can be hard though

Literally just dealt with that. It sucked.

Dragons on frontline/center points. If you can defend them, they can defend you. Essentially function as a local guardian.
Healers on backline. When you retreat you can just heal.
Obelisk on areas frequently under attack or enemy points. Obelisks don't give power when killed so use them in super hot areas.

Cyclops depends. Some points he's really good, others he doesn't matter. Really up to you. Preferred if you keep him in the mid-front. Not a good idea for a center point unless his wall is clutch.

Imps also depend. They alone do a lot of damage, but their portal placement should be the deciding factor.

Cerberus are good for the other frontline point. Say you have D and E as center frontline points. However you notice the enemy fighting over D more often. You put your dragon on D, then a cerberus on E if you can. That way if anyone pivots to E you can catch that and pivot with them.

I was wondering about this. Is their detection range really high? It seems like you can detect if an enemy is at a point with any creature because the point indicator will flash with an exclamation point if the creature gets into combat.

Its pretty large and gets bigger with an upgrade. But does not count invisible stuff like tripp going past

It's pretty big, and yea as another posted it gets larger with the upgrade. While yes the creature will flash when they are under attack, that might not be enough as it won't tell you how many players are attacking it.

Best case there is your creature dies. Worst case is the creature dies and the 3 people that attacked it kill you too.

The cerberus will basically let you know in advance "This many players are about to attack me" that way you can arrive earlier, and more prepared.

Plus they have good combat attacks, making them hard to deal with under a teamfight.
