Check your sound settings in Window's Sound Mixer. Type in "sound mixer" in the Windows search to find it easily.

The "paths need to be rebuilt" is a bug but does not affect anything in the game.

That was the first thing I ckecked--Volume Mixer says it's making sound during a match, it just doesn't... play. At all. The menus are fine, it's only during a match that it does this.

Are you using bluetooth headphones? I had this issue and found a temporary and permanent solution depending on which you want to use.

The temporary solution, is once the sound cuts out, just unpair and repair the headphones, but you have to do this every match.

The permanent solution, was to remove bluetooth from the windows taskbar options. I have no idea why this worked, but it did.

Figured it out, it's a bug that also exists in Starcraft 2. I suspected as much when you mentioned reconnecting bluetooth, but seeing someone else talk about the voice chat confirmed it for me.

What's happening is that certain bluetooth headphones have a sound-cancelling channel that some programs (including SC2 and, apparently, Gigantic) read as both input and output. Thinking that they've detected a bluetooth head*set* instead of a head*phone*, these programs' VC's try to both input and output their volume into that sound-canceller--which the hardware dutifully cancels the sound of. Overriding the defaults in the Voice section of the options menu fixed it for me.
