The "paths need to be rebuilt" is a bug but does not affect anything in the game.
The temporary solution, is once the sound cuts out, just unpair and repair the headphones, but you have to do this every match.
The permanent solution, was to remove bluetooth from the windows taskbar options. I have no idea why this worked, but it did.
What's happening is that certain bluetooth headphones have a sound-cancelling channel that some programs (including SC2 and, apparently, Gigantic) read as both input and output. Thinking that they've detected a bluetooth head*set* instead of a head*phone*, these programs' VC's try to both input and output their volume into that sound-canceller--which the hardware dutifully cancels the sound of. Overriding the defaults in the Voice section of the options menu fixed it for me.
