You Deserved Better... RIP
I knew and was in direct contact (via email) with the CEO of Motiga (the original development company), back when I was going to school for game design. And although it eventually came to an end for some of the same bugs we're experiencing now, his obvious love and passion for the game was far beyond the current development team. Let alone, this was one of the least toxic communities I've ever been a part of within the MOBA genre.

I'm sorely disappointed, and frankly, embarrassed at the level of hype that I expressed to many friends, family, and people in my stream community when I heard that it was coming back, only to see how poorly it would be handled. This was a clear attempt at a cash grab operation, with the least amount of respect to the game as possible.

I know that this act of greed is done by a lot of people in the gaming industry in order to make a quick buck, but I didn't expect it to be this game... Frankly, it hurts. This was such a core memory to my gaming career, one that I held so close and begged to be given another chance, and we were given the worst of the worst.

RIP Gigantic... you could have fought hard with the best of them, and instead you were given toxic parents who gave you nothing in return besides an abusive upbringing. You deserved more. You deserved better.

Yeah really is disappointing to see them pull the carpet from under everyone. I genuinely waited years for Gigantic to come back and when it did, I bought it immediately. Even though it was like $20 or so. I put a lot of hours into the game until they started to not listen to the community and honestly giving no new updates about the game left a bad taste in everybody's mouth. The fans for this game we're amazing and we wished to see this game grow with time. Unfortunately the lack of content, skins and characters made the game really boring especially since the devs had no plan to keep developing the game. They just used it for an easy cash grab. The new developers for the game felt like they didn't care about the game and had no passion for it. It also didn't help that launch day was unbearable with crashes and bugs. I'm super disappointed that they used everyone's previous excitement and nostalgia for money. This tactic was still not enough to compensate the games, game play. As a huge fan i'm super sad :(

RIP Gigantic.

Can't wait for some other company to pick it up again 11 years later and the cycle repeats itself.

Have you ever considered the game just isnt that good and mismanagement had very little to do with it failing twice?

Kind of like Paragon...the game isnt good and for some reason the 200 players who played it 10 years ago keep re-releasing it back out to the same result. The game isn't good. Paragon will never succeed because it is bad.

Gigantic isn't really that good...I am a moba/hero shooter fan so I am it's target audience and I didn't like it both times.

Good thing you're one person, with your own unique perspective. 😃 I can appreciate that not every MOBA fan is going to enjoy this, but I really did, as well as many others.

in reality "many others" didn't though or the game would have people playing. especially the second time around with people coming back that "loved" the game.

I am not saying there wasn't fans of the game...I thought the artstyle was great but claiming mismanagement killed the game is crazy.

That is as crazy as thinking genre fatigue and the live service push killed Concord everyone knows what killed Concord...meanwhile 2 months later Marvel Rivals does both and smashes the scene.

Initially, Microsoft agreed to publish Gigantic, but later, the deal fell through due to creative differences and delays. This setback left Motiga scrambling to find another publisher. After Microsoft dropped out, Perfect World Entertainment took over publishing, but the studio’s financial challenges and the shift in expectations caused further delays.

Gigantic faced multiple delays, which eroded the initial excitement and momentum. When the game finally launched, it had already missed its opportunity to capitalize on the growing hero shooter trend fueled by games like Overwatch and Paladins. Gigantic initially launched as a Windows 10 and Xbox exclusive. However, the Windows 10 exclusivity limited its PC audience, as it required players to use the Microsoft Store, which was less popular and considered inconvenient compared to platforms like Steam. It eventually expanded to Steam, but by then, it was too late to regain a significant player base.

The marketing for Gigantic was inconsistent and failed to effectively communicate what set the game apart from competitors. Without strong marketing, it struggled to attract a large player base at launch. Gigantic suffered from server issues and bugs during its beta and early release stages. These problems hurt its reputation early on, causing potential players to lose interest.

To say that it WASN'T mismanagement is "crazy." Do your f*ckin' homework, dude. Or do you prefer to be an uneducated, edgy fart in the wind?

Oh yea, reskinned chinese 1:1 clone of a bad game is a pinnacle for mainstream crowd. Keep running from one hype train to another, like all people with weathervane standards do.
Games that fail 2 different launches and struggle to maintain players don't deserve better.

Life 101

THE END

Your argument was stomped into dust. Move on, dude. xD Come to the table with more facts instead of speaking out of your ass for attention.

I accepted that this game was going to be cooked the moment they announced that the game would not receive any major content updates. Just ranked play and new skins. Clearly they had no long term plans for this game because they don't have the original dev team to update it, so they figured they could go for the nostalgia angle in baiting in the OG players like me and nothing else as a quick cash grab.

It's why they insisted on saying this was the "definitive" version of Gigantic and not a full on live service game. What you see is all you're gonna get.

My argument was stomped into dust? Are we looking at the same steam charts? Here are the facts, nobody wants to play this game (again)...that is the entire argument. Game came out people didn't like it, game came out again and people once again didn't like it. Management had literally nothing to do with it.

There is plenty of mismanaged games that have huge communities...

Cope harder

Wow! youre so right! Every good piece of art has always found its audience and been popular. Clown
Its not free because the people that re-released it are greedy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
It was obvious that this was just a quick cash grab if you looked into the studio, it's why I didn't buy it. They are hired to help out other studios with ports mostly, they've never managed a long running game of their own. They've never made their own game by themselves. They had no road map or plan of sustainability for the future of Gigantic.
All it requires is effort and it will come alone again
