UE3 hasn't been in active development for a really long time, this game is using an ancient engine by modern standards
Other UE3 games have supported ultrawide so don't go blaming the engine. Haven't confirmed but supposedly devs purposely avoided implementing UW for competetive reasons. Overwatch used the same justification for a while but they've since changed to support it.
Sure, but they will have had to make that work, UE is open source so you can fix things themselves, but that doesn't mean people are going to put in that effort
When the original Gigantic was out 16:9 1080p 60hz monitors were the gold standard and considered high-end for gaming. Barely anybody had UW monitors which were absurdly expensive hobbyist displays even more than they are today.
