The white knight squad acting like nothing is wrong with this game is making me sick.
I left a review talking about the monumental issues the game is suffering and I had some white knight jump in and completely deny these issues exist. Playing today, I encounter both the issues I highlighted. There still in the game.

How is it that the discussions page is made up of nothing but the most brain rotted consumers pretending this game lives or dies based on people ignoring the indefensible bugs and whether brave virgins stand up to the mean old detractors.

If I have to play another game where I'm attacked by a bot team mate, can't see who my team mates are choosing or randomly the entire game falls into pandamonium with rubber banding and VFX glitches, I will strangle the next fat fedora wearing land whale I see walking alone at night and tell myself its one of you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

White knights do that, they are currently reliving the 5 stages of grief they once experienced before back in 2017

This one is going to hurt them even more than the last one did because they were given hope, and hope is the cruellest thing you can give a person

They have entered stage 1: denial

So lets suppose the game is a completely irredeemable garbage pile that people are defending. Why would that make you sick or angry anyways? Wouldn't it be easier to just move on with your life and ignore the people crowding around the garbage pile? No need to rile up the crowd of the people enjoying themselves. If you think the people who are defending the game are stupid, why do you interact with them? why not just let them be stupid?

Its kinda how I see the fallout 76 community. I think that game is a low tier microtransaction cash out with zero soul, but the community that plays it seems to be (in general) a wholesome group of people, no reason to mess with people having a good time.

Because unlike Fallout, this is a good game that was executed extremely poorly. We've been done a disservice and pretending that it's perfect so more people drop money on it to hopefully keep it alive is delusional. What sickens me is the that delusional fervor.

Well I won't deny that plenty of kickstarter games turn out to be vaporware fueled by a starving audience who is willing to believe just about anything. I won't deny that plenty of scam artists get away with minimal tier works (looking at you "The day before.") I will also agree that Gigantic is probably held up with a skeleton crew significantly smaller than what the studio should have provided.

But I also believe that the skeleton crew that is working on gigantic is enough to keep the game alive for a long time (like overwatch before it got bad) and that said skeleton crew is genuinely working on fixing those changes pretty darn soon as evidenced how they already fixed a few of the... very bad flaws and addressed the others.

I can see that boycotting such practices from the studios can and would lead to changes in the gradual state of games. I think gigantic is on *my* good side for now though. I am willing to test out the paid model. I did indeed unlock character and the cosmetics I wanted in like 3 hours, I honestly don't know if the model will work for the studio overall and my honest bet is that gigantic probably will just end up with a small dedicated playerbase.

I do think lack of hype kills such games though. I have seen it in games like battleborn and realm royale where clear effort (esp more on the battleborn side) was placed into the worldbuilding and character design which feels wasted in ways that could have been fixed had people not been so critical of the games in their early stages. Maybe not everybody pulled their weight in the development of those games (looking at you balance team and bugtesters), but I think we underappreciated the incredible effort of the other members and how easily the game could have been salvaged should we waited just a little bit longer or not lead a hate train.

But well. how else will the corps listen right? Its a rough balance. Maybe my standards are low.

I don't really understand what you're upset about. I don't think anyone denies that the UI is filled with jank or that disconnected players (which may happen due to crashes or server jank) results in invincible bots. Hell, the last one is explicitly called out in the recent news post from the devs as something they're looking to fix.

So what exactly are you upset about if the community and devs readily admit that the issues exist and they're trying to address them? It's not white knighting to say that the game has obvious jank, but is still really fun.

What are you so hostile for bro? No wonder nobody wants to listen to what you're saying.

I just hope that the bugs are fixed before the play count drops. Right now, lobbies are filled with noobs compared to a week ago, does that mean experienced players are dropping and new players are coming? I don't know, but I get a game within a minute each time, so I'm not worried.

How are you all getting games where people are leaving constantly? I've played a little over 100 games and saw a leaver like... twice. And neither of which spawned any bots.

I mean, in OP's case, I think I have a guess.

No one is acting like nothing is wrong, people, besides you, are just reasonable enough to not expect a flawless AAA release from a small mod/port studio, especially in an age where most AAA studios don't nail flawless releases.

Some of the whiners are right that this is, in a sense, a beta, because this is not a company with sufficient resources to test the game with the thousands of testers over thousands of hours prior to launch, they just had to launch and figure it out from there, and there's nothing wrong with that under circumstances where that is their only option.
