Battleborn just needed a ranked competitive mode, simplified server selection, removing any competitive advantage like pre-farmed gear and it would have easily been the best hero shooter ever.
Battleborn simply died because playing the game had no meaning after you played a few PvP battles. Sure, it would have been nice if the engine would be upgraded to UE5, but Battleborn is already amazing with only some minor easily fixable flaws.
Gigantic on the other hand is very unique in a bad way. You either love the art style and gameplay or hate it. There is no in-between. It's not like Overwatch, where every character has a Barbie/Ken design or at least a Barbie/Ken toy style. With Overwatch you can even hate the gameplay and game, but still play it because every hero looks like a Barbie/Ken inspired toy and with this you can just ignore all the other flaws in the game.
But I can understand why for example Lawbreakers failed. Lawbreakers was just a worse experience than other shooters like Counter Strike, Fortnite, or any other big shooter. Lawbreakers had nothing that could stand out and while Battleborn has the ultimate fun experience or Overwatch the very simplistic but enjoyable art-style, Lawbreakers just felt like some asset flip that tried a lot, but couldn't compete against any other big shooter.
^^^ This.
If BB comes back, I'm definitely hopping on it. As, I'm sure, a lot of Overwatch vets will, too
Ya the out of game loot and stuff was so stupid, the loot box curse strikes again.
Overwatch releasing at the same time really didnt help, combined with Blizz moving testing weekends to align with BB release. Was a ton of fun.
