The big difference betwwen kb & xbox controller is that u can't manage sensivity and dead zone with keyboard, BUT u CAN change the default keys settings WASD to custom L-R-Up-Down.
Take a look at the COMMAND to change WASD to arrow keys Lt-Rt-Up-Dn.
I've used the arrow keys with my kb and it work perfectly, u are " allowing us to use the arrow keys" !
Best regards.
By the way this is not my primary steam account.

Edit. There are some very good reasons in this thread as to the benefit of implementing as much controller support as possible. A few unhappy players here: Maybe this bunch simply are actually practising lazy programming...

You're right, I forgot that on my keyboard I had assigned the Home/End (Acceleration/Rear Braking) and Delete/PageDown (Left/Right) keys.
Indeed, it is not possible to validate the direction keys BUT they can be assigned and check with the control gauge that the direction keys are active and only them.
So I think the problem is only on the display of keys during validation that appear with a "?" instead of the key name.
This is also why I switched to the Xbox controller to have more settings.
The developers should be told to correct this display problem for validation because the keys are well assigned. This problem seems easy to solve for them.
I hope this will help you.

Exactly, that's why i 've posted on 10 juin à 13h24 this BUG in the topic "TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 | Bug Report".
to be continued...
I played with a keyboard on the original version of MotoGP (released in 2000 I think) and on the 2007 version. Once I got the 2013 version I got an Xbox controller and would not think of going back to keyboard.
Hi BAG-One. From my personal perspective playing with a keyboard never was a game-winning choice as I have said in my longer post/s above. But the skill is to do lots of key tapping to get around the corners as smooth as you can. There is no magic it's just about skill and perseverance.
I can see why other players may think we are lunatics but I will say that a good keyboard user (and I don't count myself as one) can work wonders with it. I used to head up a Dirt Rally 2 Club and I saw many DR2 KB players on Youtube absolutely nailing it beyond belief.
It tends to get derided by some (not you) but the irony is that a great KB user has far more skills than any other controller user on a win per win basis if that makes sense
If I could be bothered with learning to use my Xbox wired controller I tell you now I would use it ;-)

As I mentioned, I had the first version of MotoGP and had a LOT of fun with it. The first covid lockdown was when I dug it out and started playing it again and I remembered my frustration with having to do a lot of key tapping. The fact that you can even play the newer games doing so is impressive.
On a side note, the fact that I was able to dig out a game (on an actual CD) that was nearly 20 years old and still play it at the time is something I fear is now lost. I'm already getting frustrated at games that have their servers turned off and don't have a locally saved leaderboard which means that with some of them you don't have a saved best time on each track. In this age of downloaded games i's almost as though we now "rent" a game rather than buy it.

For TT3 on a keyboard all I really want, at least, is to set up the classical A+Z (throttle), then . and , keys (steering) and finally the LeftAlt - Right Alt keys (gear up/down). Most of those you can reassign absolutely fine in-game, but you cannot config the Alt keys in TT3. So instead I assign gear up/down to other keys in-game (e.g. i and k keys) and then use the following kind of simple ahk script to bind the Alt keys to the i and k keys:
#singleinstance force
LAlt::i
RAlt::k
Just as an example of using AHK that takes the hassle out of waiting for games to let you reassign the keyboard or mouse the exact way you want, all the best, Kab
I think we are in a position where the older gamer is being ignored in this area as the march forward continues because they have no consideration for 'us' who seem to be treated like a lost and declining consumer. Ta very much by the way...!
We do still pay the same though...
Lazy programming still prevails but I guess - what else could be the reason...?
Thanks for the link W.B. Yeats. I will check it out
Time for me to go as I've said enough - thanks for everyone's input it's been a great and civilised discussion fron the off ;-)
