this game got a huge discount but i heard there is a problem with hackers and i wonder if the game is dead or alive

The game is alive and there may be an occasional hacker.

Another thing to note is that most people have trouble booting up the game when they first bought it. I've never had this problem, but most players, judging from what is posted on the discussion page, have had this problem.

i revisited gw2 4 days ago and with 36 hours of playtime already i've seen only two hackers. One using a gagantuar with speedhacks and another using the pizza delivery goat who was just messing around and game's pretty alive still

Absolutely alive. Hackers suck and mostly prey on turf takeover since it's most popular, but mixed mode is normally ok if turf is too bad.
