Wrong, gw1 on pc stilll has players but only on team vanquish and gardens and graveyards and sometimes garden ops, and it's very dependent on the time of day. You can get a lobby with one of these gamemodes (when playing in a normal time like 10am - 8pm) and usually can get more than half of the lobby full with players.

Gw2 on PC is like that but much less dependent on time zones (In NA East, i can consistently get turf/mixed mode lobbies even in the AM (which usually has less than half of players in a full lobby of players)) and i'd say (from my experience) 3-2x more players than GW1. Sometimes the playercount on steam even surpasses 1000 players but that's sort of uncommon currently.

Having players doesn't equal being alive. There are always going to be people playing "dead games" but the question is how popular they still are in terms of player count. Mh4u on the 3ds was considered dead but it always had about 10 lobbies up.

Being able to play with a normal amount of people every match also doesn't equal the game being dead, so what's the point of stating this? Also the majority of people can class a game as "dead" because its decline in its player count though how "dead" a game can be can vary a lot.

Both games average under 1000 players at a time, it's dead, there's no way you can argue otherwise without being biased.

Explain your definition of a "dead" game. In this "dead" game's main gamemodes (Turf Takeover and Mixed Mode) in the peak hours and in most regions)) you can get into a lobby with more than half of the lobby full, sometimes even completely full. That doesn't seem like a dead game to me. Obviously the current playercount is nowhere near what it used to be when this game was in its' prime, but in its current state it has enough players to be a playable multiplayer experience without the lack of players affecting the experience.

Compared to other games average player count its dead. The people you see in lobbies are almost always the same because it doesn't get any new players. Also the game is receiving no updates and isn't even having its cheating problem addressed so by definition its a dead game.

Compared to multiplayer games with even less players its nowhere near as dead as those and i'd argue its impressive how many people still play this game after its' prime 8 years ago. Not sure about the legitimacy about that but there has been many, many other old multiplayer games that people still play despite it having issues due to its age like this game.

Again, just because some people play it doesn't mean it isn't dead. And just because it isn't as dead as other dead games doesn't mean it's not dead either.

It's definitely not "some" people playing this game. Combine the average playercount from consoles and PC and there's thousands of people playing this game, on all platforms, at any given time.

A few thousand people is dead compared to the 10 thousand or even 100 thousand avg player count for the majority of games

That doesn't apply to all multiplayer games and even then it only does for multiplayer games, not singleplayer games. Multiplayer games can be alive without having a ton of players depending on how the multiplayer system was designed for them. Plus referring to a games' low playercount as it being "dead" or "dying" isn't an accurate way to show alive/dead it is.
