Does this use Origin?

I tried a few times but Origin won't run on my PC. They gave out Battle for Neighborville for free with Amazon Prime but I couldn't play it because of Origin. I'll gladly buy this through steam but not if it needs origin

origin is randomly working again... but after reading all the issues finding matches in the discussions I'm not sure I wanna buy it yet

I am also wondering about Origin. If it does require Origin, then I'm not sure of why it's even on Steam in the first place?

The first time you boot it up, it asks for an origin login and makes you install origin. Doesn't make sense because after that, it doesn't seem to bring up origin when I boot up the game anymore. I guess it might be related to servers in some way?

After first use your Origin and Steam accounts are linked so it won't ask you to login again but it still starts origin in the background. As that is how all the EA games on Steam work. Also Origin is on its way out as EA is pushing more and more for there EA app (newer launcher) which is currently still in beta.

And both EA app and Origin seems to have trouble running at the same time, so as long as the Steam versions aren't swapped over it can give problems if you have the EA app running. This though I have not tested yet as the only EA game I have through Steam is one that I stopped playing a while ago.
