maestro achievement?
has anyone realised what it is you have to do to unlock one. i've been at 38 of 44 for multiple playthroughs now and the achievement is driving me crazy.

Have you romanced all possible options? They each have an ending song and there's a song for wooing no one. I wish you luck!

From what a "Maestro" is, and the comment on the achievement ("Music is now your province"), my guess is that it's related to hearing/triggering all the major musical themes in the game.

One of the early choices in many songs seems to set the "tone" for the rest of the piece... like with the song when you first meet Pan, at the second choice point you can trigger the "lost girls, lost girls" theme (green) or the "my time to shine" theme (red) or the "time to play" theme (blue), and whichever one you choose, that lyric and musical theme recurs for the rest of the song.

I am in the same boat right now, although it is 37/44 for me currently. I noticed that each of the 'color-coded' soundtrack albums has 15 songs in it, and 15*3 is pretty close to 44, so maybe playing each variation of each song would be sufficient? Although out of these 15 tracks per album, 2 are the song and it's reprise unique to one of the romantic options, and since there are 4 romantic options and not 3 like the number of the albums, it means there are at least 2 songs unaccounted for in my estimation. So I wonder which three of the 47 songs do not count towards the achievement. Probably the three credits variations, if I had to guess.

Edit: I got my count up to 40/44, and right now my theory is that, to get the achievement, you need to play out all the romance options, which gets you 8 songs (each RO has a song and its reprise). Then there are two versions of Adrift (reprise), the solo and, uh, non-solo one, and also Everything has changed, the no-romance route song. The rest 33 come from 11 musical numbers, each has three 'colored' renditions. Those numbers are (I think): Adrift, I can teach you, Phantom pains, Challenging a queen, Old wounds, Cast a spell, Look into me, Ritual, Throne, It's time, and Trial. I am not 100% sure though, maybe there are some song/versions that count that I am missing?

Edit 2: I also found out that there are slightly different instrumentalizations in Adrift (reprise) in the three colored albums, and I have no idea if they all count separately🤯🤯

I'm in the same boat at 42/44 after multiple playthroughs. Exception to my first playthrough, I (thought) I did mono color playthroughs afterwards, but I must have missed something. Been going back and replaying every song in every color cause I just don't know anymore :zagcry:. I wish this game would give you a menu that tracks which arrangements we've seen, albeit unlocked after the first run.

Oh ♥♥♥♥, I made a duplicate thread, sorry :(

I'm 41/44 and at a loss for what to do.

I found this: https://www.thegamer.com/stray-gods-the-roleplaying-musical-all-trophies-achievements/ I'm not sure how trustworthy the site is, but it says it's about choosing each unique major decision in songs throughout the game.

Same here 42/44 and I made several playthrough and done the songs by colors. I've noticed that "Challenging a queen" in green has two ending though depending on if you have the charismatic trait or not. I'm wondering if there is other songs like that.

The big problem here is the game don’t give you any clue which step you miss, so its end with a stupid replay and try again... again… and again. It’s a frustrating achievement, this is for sure.

It’s a musical with a story, not a shooter which let you play the same map for 100x to get this tricky achievement (and even there you have more clues, because you know which map you need to pick)

I really adore the game but you are correct. I wish there was a new game+ mode that would give us an opportunity to look at some of the numbers and variables that are currently hidden under the hood.

UPDATE: Hello from the past for anyone who stumbles upon this post weeks and months and years later! I am here to let you know that
  • I did get the Maestro achievement in the end, mostly in the way described in this post.
  • All the 43 songs described here really did update my counter to 43/44, so you can ignore the occasional ?, all of these were tested by me.
  • The final 44th song was the seventh version of the Ritual: it turns out that for the achievement it does not matter how the ritual ends, but instead what you choose in the first two prompts. There are two versions of The Ritual with green and red musical theme, but three with the blue theme. This particular comment does a bad job at explaining how to get the seven versions, but by the time we wrote the guide we figured it out, so read that instead!
  • We compiled all of this info in a guide over here:
    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3019778120

Please let us know on this forum or in the comments to the guide if you tested some of the claims and got different result, or any relevant findings really. Enjoy the game and good luck with the achievement!

================================

So I currently have 40/44, and I actually started the game from another account to keep track of the numbers that counted toward the achievement. Here is what I've got:

(Some songs are counted three times meaning all three variations are required for the achievement.)

(Also I sometimes put ?, it means I haven't checked that part fully but speculating based on what I already tried.)

Act I

1. Adrift (the trait choice does not influence the achievement counter)
2. Chorus is in Accord (no input from player)
3-5. I Can Teach You (three variations determined by the second prompt)
6-8. Phantom Pains (by the first prompt)
9-11. Challenging a Queen (first prompt)
12. Old Wounds (any choice is fine)

Act II

13-18? The Ritual (third prompt defines the variation, and for each of them there are two outcomes based on whether Aphrodite decided to do the ritual in the end or not. That's six songs in total. As I am writing this, I already got 5 songs this way, so I am pretty sure the sixth one will also be here.)
19-21. Look into Me (first prompt)
22-24. Cast a Spell (first prompt)

Act III

25-27. The Throne (first prompt)
28. It's Time (either choice results in just one song for the achievement counter)
29-30. Adrift (reprise) (let go / bring back)

31-34? The Trial (Freddie / Apollo / Persephone / Pan)

As I understand The Trial, the variations are not based on the colored choices like other songs, but on who is the first to stand up for you during the number: either your romantic interest or, if you do not enter a romantic relationship (or break it off by the time the trial starts), it's Apollo or Persephone, depending on who you chose at the end of Act I. As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter whether or not you are in a romantic relationship with Apollo / Persephone, if they are in the song it's all the same for the achievement.

Epilogue and the romance-specific songs:

35. Everything Has Changed (no romance by the time the epilogue rolls in; it seems like Freddie / no Freddie versions both count as one song)
36-37. If Only + reprise (Freddie)
38-39. Here for the Ride + reprise (Apollo)
40-41? Let's Have This Dance + reprise (Pan)
42-43? You and I + reprise (Persephone)

This is probably that one outcome where you let Persephone win the challenge? I got the other green variation of the song, maybe this is exactly the one song I am missing. I will check it later.

Yeah, I am also annoyed there are just three save slots (I'd be more comfortable with 4-5 doing all of this), and no functionality for deleting/copying the save in-game, so I have to be super careful with replaying previous songs and not erasing too much progress, because it's, uh, something that you can't undo.

Thanks so much for that breakdown!

By the looks of that, a fair chunk of what I've been missing is probably tied up in The Ritual counting as 6 outcomes, rather than the usual 3. Though a few other points on your list give me further ideas on what to test out next playthrough.

Could I trouble you for a little more info on what you know about the paths to each Adrift version, though? I feel like I've only seen one, but possibly I'm only forgetting a distinction in there. I'm guessing it involves whether or not you bring Freddie back? But does it maybe also require being at a certain romance point with her, or not with other people?

More save slots would certainly help here, yes. I've been debating whether to start manually backing up my saves somewhere before I wipe anything, or taking advantage of the lack of cloud saves to play across devices for extra slots.

Yes, the two versions of Adrift (reprise) are 1) Grace uses the muse power and sings with all the past Calliopes, or 2) Grace sings solo, because she passed her eidolon onto Freddie. The number of 'romance points' with Freddie does not influence this. In one of my playthroughs, I never flirted with her until confronting her after she comes back from Hades, and it was still ok to activate both the romance route with her and the solo version of Adrift reprise.

Also, as I mentioned previously, there are actually subtle differences in Adrift (reprise) based on your 'dominant' trait, which can be observed from the three soundtrack albums, but in the end, it does not have any impact on the achievement.

Could you please elaborate on how these two green options are reached? I thought the difference between the two endings is either throwing the challenge or not, or maybe choosing the one trait exclusive option during the song or not, but apparently, neither is true.

Wouah, great job ! I also noticed that if you have the inteligent trait on medusa song and choose the blue choice at the end, it's not "[bluff] Persephone can help you" but only "Persephone can help you" and the outcome change Medusa trust you and doesn't want to eat you anymore. ( I haven't try with Apollon idk if the option change )
Idk if it count though

Thanks, I am compiling a 43/44 guide as we speak :) This choice definitely counts for the Snake Charmer achievement (I think the only way to get it is with the intelligent trait, and Persephone/Apollo does not matter for it), but yeah, not sure about Maestro.
