I liked Aphrodite songs(spoilers)
The song to prevent her from ending herself was really emotional. Especially when you get her son to sing how he felt losing his mom constantly.

Was the great war that screwed up Aphrodite was WW2? THey said that Ares missed the first one.

I wonder if Hephaestus ended up working for the Soviet Union, since they never saw him again and they all live in the new world.

The art of the scene where you get her to decide to live is one of my favourites in the entire game. It's really effective and emotional.

Aphro's song is my favourite so far, even if Persephone jazz routine is on point.

Yes. Besides what everyone has pointed out, the "jack-booted thugs" is a clear reference to the Nazis.

The timeline of the thing is nebulous, but if the deal happened early into ww2, this would have been impossible as the Germans and the USSR only start being enemies in mid-1941, two years into WW2.
Either way, since the Idols move to the New World, I presumed the deal Hephaestus struck was with the US.

also it makes more sense since the russians used overwhelming numbers to win where as the usa literally made the atomic bomb.

There is a character ending that hints more directly at what happened to Hephaestus.

Light spoiler: just the character
Medusa. (extra words to pad length of spoiler block)

Milder spoiler:
Medusa asked you not to do something. Did you follow through on that?

More spoilery, disclaimer I may have misremembered the details:
During Medusa's song, don't take the clever option that offers help from Apollo/Persephone (the bluff option is ok). Then, don't mention Medusa to Athena during the "Called to Athena" sequence. The ending mentions that she stayed at the Reliquary for a time until an incident with Hecate's cat. After that, she turns herself into the government and they mention that the Idols may get to see Hephaestus again. The implication being that he has continued to be working for the government since WW2.
