Possible glitch: My save file disappeared?
I'm adoring the game. I took a break after finishing Act 1 and closed the game, I didn't see anything to manually save so I figured it's all auto-saves (I did clock the laurel wreath in the top left corner appearing now and then). When I launched the game later, I couldn't see the option to continue, so I clicked the Load poster and nothing in my Slot 1 there.

To test it out, I quickly started a new game and selected Slot 2. Exited the game, reloaded, gave me the option to continue from that new file I made.

I don't mind redoing Act 1, but just wanted to mention this happened in case there's an issue here or something goofed on my end.

Hi folks!

We have an update on the save issue! To save you a click, here's the details.

Hello everyone!

We appreciate the patience you've given us as we've been investigating this save issue. We believe we have found the cause, and we're here today with a hotfix that we believe will resolve the save issues you've been experiencing.

At present, we believe the issue came up due to the way in which the game was handling initial save files - that is, demo save files had the potential to cause issues with players games if they had them, including crashes. To prevent this, the system is taught to wipe these initial saves to ensure you don't encounter crashes and an unplayable game. However, the way in which the system detects these saves made an error, causing it to identify your first new saves as potential demo saves.

This also accounts for why players do not and have not (at least from our reports) encountered the issue again. We've made adjustments to how the system checks these files and are pushing this build now.

You should take care not to load any saves from your demo playthrough as it will likely cause issues. Overwriting those saves with new games will ensure everything runs smoothly.

If you encounter any further issues, please do continue to submit via our bug report form.

CHANGES:
Fix to address save versioning incorrectly deleting saves

Thank you and enjoy Stray Gods!

Same happened to me, too...

Glad to hear you're enjoying it, but it's odd that your save file disappeared! Can you submit this via our bug report link here[6k8iky9gz49.typeform.com] so we can investigate when the team is on site? Additionally, in the interim - you can back up your save files by going to your local install folder, opening the Saved > SavedGames folders, and copying all files inside to an additional folder or location. Inserting these back into the folder should reload them as save options on relaunch.

Me too, by the looks.

While I was logging out, the game clearly showed there was data in slot 1.

Browse the local files through Steam, and I cant even see a Saved or SavedGame directory anywhere. Re-launching finds no save data.

Guess I was due for that reminder of why playing immediately upon launch is rarely a wise idea, no matter how keen you are to enjoy a great new game.

EDIT: Correction, I do have the Saved directory structure elsewhere. It's just in AppData, not in the local files install path that Steam opens for you. I've now backed that up, but not sure if that means I've got my progress there or had already overwritten it with a blank when I tested re-launching the game.

So sorry to hear - please do also submit a ticket, that way we can gather as much information as possible to resolve! We really appreciate your patience, and sorry that it's put a dampener on your first playthrough!

Just adding my voice that my save file vanished too. Will also submit a ticket.

Edit: Submitted a ticket, and checked the save file - it was last modified when I closed the game the first time, so hopefully the data isn't gone. I uploaded the save file within the ticket, hopefully that helps track it down.

Edit 2: For reference, I quit the game right after completing Act 1.

Can confirm that the game has wiped the save data on the second launch.
The save file path is: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Chorus\Saved\SaveGames

Edit. Restarted the game a couple of times, saving into different slots, and it seems fine now.

Did all of you stop playing after Act I, too? As in, did anyone have this issue if you saved at an earlier/later point in the game?

I stopped playing after the first auto-save (on the first song) - saw this thread and wanted to check. The bug has occurred only once (the data was wiped on the second launch, but not the subsequent ones). Not sure, what is the reason, but I'd rather not to lose progress - the game seems to be an interesting but unpleasant-to-repeat experience.

I just finished my play session (At the Underworld club, just as the song there was about to start) and decided to call it an evening.
Glad I decided to poke into the forum first, just went and backed my save game up from the Appdata folder.. no idea if mine will be wiped when I launch again :spazdunno:

It happened to me in the middle of Act II after I quit the game the first time. After starting a second game I haven't encountered the problem again (I've opened and closed the game several times since).

Same issue here. I played for about an hour before ending my play session, but only after checking that the game had in fact saved.

Will probably hold off on restarting the game until this issue has been resolved.

Game crashed on me in act 2, on choosing a distraction to get into Medusa's club.

Then on reboot, savegame gone.

Yeah I'm... I'm a little annoyed at this. This is why I save in multiple slots, which the team here has decided to disallow, to prevent savescumming I'm sure but... I looked for manual save options plenty, didn't find any and now can either replay a pretty linear plot for three or four hours or.. just move on for a while

A real shame, I was pretty hyped for launch.

Came back to say a similar thing. The new game I started is using Slot 2 that I've closed and relaunched the game a few times to test it, seems to be okay. So maybe Slot 1 is a bad apple somehow? Still backing up my save files as I go though, just in case.

The first time I launched the game, it did not ask for my consent to collect data. I played for 56 minutes, stopped after leaving C's apartment.
On 2nd launch, my progress was gone, and then it asked me for consent to collect data.

I wonder if this could be related?

(I just noticed that there is a "N = skip line" function. So I guess I'll try to get through it all one more time.)
