Mods Thread: Championship Edition (Updated 6/8)
-6/8 Update-

The latest patch broke a lot of mods. My mods have been updated on Gamebanana and will be uploaded to Curseforge at a later time.

First, an announcement. In addition to CurseForge, there is now a GameBanana page for RCG2 Mods.

So far, only mods I have written are over on GameBanana but MuKen plans to upload theirs once they get updated for RCG2 1.X. For my own part, GameBanana will always be updated and announced first due to CurseForge's . . . thorough approval process.

With that said, here's some highlights of what you should check out:

RCG2 Essentials by Devi and MuKen

First up, this mod is a prerequisite to many of my mods and MuKen's future mods and updates, so you're going to want to install it. It includes instructions on installing our other prerequisite for ALL mods, MelonLoader and comes packed with MelonPrefManager by sinai. This means you can edit all of our mods in-game with a simple popup menu, no longer needing to worry about .cfg files!

Newly added, the latest version of Essentials comes with the Accessory Setter Shortcuts mod, allowing you to cycle between your custom pairs of accessories in-game, with just the press of a key or button (also configurable!).

Palette Pack: Championship Edition by Devi

This is a big one, the one that I put the most work into and am most proud of!

So did I mention the latest RCG2 Essentials also adds support for custom color palettes of all 6 playable characters? Well, it does and here's a brand new pack to prove it!

Each character now has 3 (at least) new palettes to choose from. Want Misako to dye her hair blue? Want to see Kyoko after a few too many Gummy Yummies? Zombie Kunio??? Well they're all here and a whole lot more, so go check them out and validate my existence!

Arcade Mode by MuKen

What goes well with a bunch of new arcade-y colors for your characters? Arcade action!

This mod creates a streamlined linear experience (completable in under 3 hours), without most of the rpg elements. It also introduces a combo scoring mechanic: you will be awarded money for connecting large combos, and will be penalized when you die (even if you return to hideout). The money serves no purpose other than to measure your performance.

Enhanced Store UI by MuKen

Lots of visual indicators to let you more easily tell what you have bought and can hold!

Smarter Watch by Devi

Tired of equipping and unequpping the Smart Watch just to gain its store-only benefits? I'm guessing not, because you probably just forgot about it shortly after you bought it. But that's okay because this mod will handle that for you! Also works with the Music Player for those who like to dine-in.

Completion Helper by MuKen

A selected save slot will show details of what's missing for 100% completion percent.

Taunt by MuKen, extra features added by Devi

Adds a combat command that allows your character to perform a taunt. You are vulnerable during this, so be careful! Mostly something to do for flare but it is compatible with the Accessory Setter and Palette Swapping built into RCG2 Essentials. Wow!

Localization Mod by winterheart

A new MelonLoader compatible localization with the capability of having more languages added, contact winterheart if you have made a localization that you want to add to the mod. Currently supports Russian.

I hate to ask but is there any chance a mod could be made for co-op where P1 can be played with a keyboard and P2 on controller?

I'm only a little familiar with the library this game uses for controller input. I don't know how to assign specific controllers to specific player IDs and not sure what side effects it might have. Part of the problem is that the controller library they used is one of the only libraries that uses obfuscation, which makes it a pain to read when decompiled. If the assignments are made on the game end, I don't know when and where that happens.

At the very minimum, I won't be touching that until post-patch and hopefully it's something WF addressed. No promises beyond that, sorry.

PSA: The new patch for RCG2 has dropped and some mods are working, some are not. Don't know what might incur with them on right now, so it is suggested to disable all mods for the moment, until we can test and update them.

The easiest thing to do would be to rename version.dll in your main directory. to something else.

Thanks for the update, Devi! Yes, the game now seems to get hung up shortly after loading a game save with mods enabled. Hoping you'll be able to figure out a workaround; these mods have been invaluable!

Here are some things I can personally confirm.

Taunt causes a hang when you attempt to block.
No Books in Quick Slot seems to do its job but the cycling through items seems erratic.
Enhanced Store UI causes a soft lock.
Smarter Watch doesn't seem to do anything.
Shortcuts are completely broken.

Progress Report:

Everything of mine and Taunt seems to be working. Going to beta test, clean up the code and upload updates within the next 24 hours.

If I remember, I might make a list of what is and what isn't currently working of MuKen's mods.

Was it you or someone else who made the shared rewards mod? That one seems to be freezing the game on enemy defeat (sad...the main mod i wanted =( )

MuKen. I can take a fairly educated guess on that one not being a particularly difficult fix.

Ah, nice. A Melonloader mechanism for extra languages is something I wanted to look into before but never got around to. I'll add this to the top.

For those still using the beta or using my 60FPS mod, the legacy mods on Gamebanana have had current version fixes back ported to them.
