"I have had to reconfigure my animations on multiple occasions but since I did the flashback games my player in My Career no longer has my name... the last name has been replaced by MP. This is also what shows on the back of my jersey. There appears to be no way to change it except start over. This would negate the time spent earning stat points and a loss of the over 200,000 vc I used to get my player to an 87 rating.

I bought the 200,000 vc pack from steam since the game was on sale. Starting over would be a loss of that VC pack. And I see no guarantee that I would not end up in the same situation.

I had already started the NBA and was at the point that you do “flashback” games during an interview with a female reporter.

Since I am able to rebirth my character (I reached a 90 overall rating), would it be possible to get a refund/credit for the $49.99 (plus tax) that I spent to get 200,000 VC which I would then be able to apply to the rebirthed player? This would not get me back to where I am, but would prevent me from having to shell out more money needlessly.

I am about to enter the all star game with the “MP” character, but really bummed to be having a record breaking season and all of my records will not have my name; my jersey doesn’t have my name, and the announcers won’t call my player by anything other than “MP” no matter what I set the commentary name to.

The rebirthed player does not seem to have this same issue. Just a lack of rating due to lack of VC."

I have tried to find a way to reach steam support that will allow me to ask for a refund but they just direct me back to 2k.

Is there any hope of getting a refund on this?

I understand the policy on consumable items, but it makes sense when the game does not malfunction in this way. I would love nothing more than to continue the build I have, but with the loss of the name the immersion is lost.

A simple patch to allow the user name to be modified during the career would be acceptable too.

2k should just charge a flat 35$ fee for rebuilding your character if you screw up. When I first started I tried picturing what kind of play I wanted but didn't know what all the attributes exactly meant, even when googling it. So I screwed up my first player and wasted $100. I then had to spend another $100 for another player. They would still make money. 2k is losing a lot of customers because of the high prices. Never before had I spent $400 on just a game, and I gamed in the 80's p[laying online role-playing games that charged $1.99 a minute. I support 2k when ppl talk down on them, but this I cannot support. They can at least abandon their marketing strategy of making newbie players play against 90+ overalls on the online matches.

Feel your pain. Only started playing nba 2k with 2k21. I was stoked that this build was going well and had gotten to the point of being fun to play (builds in the other two games were fun but this one's face scan is much better and knowing what I know from the previous games I was smarter about placing attributes). I didn't do anything to mess the build up; just played the flashback matches and it replaced my player's last name with "MP".

As someone who customizes EVERYTHING in games and real life; the immersion of playing my career is just about completely lost. I play for Brooklyn and have them call the player "B" (well used to have them call me "B" but that is just "MP" now too).

I only play My Career NBA matches so my rating is over 90, even with a 2G fiber optic connection playing matches on the ship lags horribly so I don't even try for any of those quests.

All of the other modes and features are just there. Completing something that rewards me with items for those modes seem moot.
