I sincerely hope this is the case. Otherwise, we're looking at zero new games for the 400/800/XE platform? I was annoyed and confused enough at the Atari PCs being ignored **BACK IN THE ACTUAL 1980s**. We were always invisible, compared to the 2600 console and the Commodore platforms.
And, of course, the 400/800/XE category is the smallest in this collection, already.
It almost feels targeted. What did we, the Atari PC community, do to offend everyone?
I agree, I would also like more 400/800/XE games. I was hoping the ones included in the Atari mini would be added. For me the game I would most like added is Mule.
I don't know how many of those were first-party titles from Atari, though. I know a bunch of the were from Spinnaker Software, and who knows who has the rights to all their stuff, by now.
The point is, modern schools could legitimately benefit from the old edutainment games.
Kids are too busy learning about gay pride instead of playing wholesome games. But I digress...
Many or all of the games on this list will be in the Atari 50 DLC.
I suspected that Atari was able to negotiate for the rights to Checkered Flag as it wasn't included in the recent Epyx Handheld Collection on Switch. Even glancing at the game's page on Steam shows Atari holds the publishing rights. I'm hopeful that the Jaguar version will also make an appearance.
Battlezone's inclusion on the 400 mini shows that Atari can license the title from Rebellion, I hope they can include it in A50.
The additional Lynx and 7800 titles are also promising. I've felt that Desert Falcon was a glaring omission from A50, and I'll be curious to try more Lynx titles.
I suspect it will have the homebrew game Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest (7800), as the presence of homebrews has already been confirmed, in addition to Atari being the legal owner of Atariage.
