Common cards upgrades not working

I've upgraded some of them and always kind of wondered if they actually work since the number on the cards didn't change. Specifically upgraded the health one to check if it will give me 15 in stead of 10 when I take the card - it didn't.

Maybe they are upgrading the initial stats of the hero only?!?!

if you use the upgrade card for commons once it would actually only give you 12 not 15, 13 if you round up. also that card does not work with some upgrades, I forget what ones it does not work with but if you look in the main menu there is a menu that gives more info on all the cards in the game and will tell you if it works with health upgrades.

I assume you're talking about "Tome"? Per the in-game encyclopedia ( or wiki[seraphs-last-stand.fandom.com])...
Common items (white) become 25% more effective, except for Renew and Stability. The new value won't appear on the item

I don't know if the Tome works or not... But I figure the OP refers to the "Upgrades" you can buy at the title screen for 25 (initially) Souls each. My observation is that those don't do anything currently. Upgrading Damage by one still leaves you at 4 damage with the normal staff, and each regular Catalyst card still only gives 2 extra damage.

the soul upgrades do NOT upgrade your common cards they upgrade your base stats, the damage upgrade is a little finicky and doesn't always work.
