I just tested with my buddy as we both decided to bite the bullet. We were able to send invites into a party and play private 2-on-2 matches. We were also able to do quick match for 1-on-1 matches online with his Steam Deck and my Steam Deck without issues.
Voice chat works by default and we couldn't figure out how to turn it to push to talk. After disabling the Steam Deck microphone, we were able to game without the Deck accidentally picking up our voices though turning up the mic volume to talk is quite a hassle.
