Now here come a few criticisms. Controls feel a little bit clunky. This became more evident to me the more I played Fatal 4way matches which is the match type I play the most. The targeting system is incredibly frustrating. Even with manual targeting, you can't target the furthest player away from you, who on many occasions is the one still standing on his feet. I don't think auto targeting is working properly as it should by its name. I was under the impression that auto targeting always targets the closest player automatically at all times without the need of manually pressing a button. But oftentimes I still have to press the L stick which you constantly have to do throughout multi-man matches and I find that annoying.
Then there's the running aspect of the game. Running feels clunky. A lot of times I find myself running and stopping or just running in a wrong direction due to how clunky it is. When there's someone laying on the ground in front of me, I have trouble simply walking over them when I want to reach the turnbuckle or to attack another player. To Yukes' credit, I do like how you can't just hit a spear on someone right in front of you unlike the older WWE games. You need some room space to initiate a run before hitting that running move. A very welcomed design choice especiallly when playing online.
I think a big part of the overall clunky feeling I get is due to there being a little too much input lag between your button presses and the reaction, whether it be running or grappling. Whatever it is, Yukes needs to further fine-tune it some more to make controlling our wrestler feel more fluid and responsive.
Would I purchase the Elite Edition day 1 again? Absolutely. Do I hope the Kenny Omega and the developers deliver continuous updates as promised? I sure hope so.
Matches are pretty short, straight to the point of race to finisher. Don't miss your chance to put your opponent in the danger state (can't reverse moves then).
Another factor that adds to the fun is that you will not need to wait long on loading screens. They take about 2 seconds to load everything. Transition screen is so short you won't be able to read the text that is shown.
As for RTE mode, if you like homage to Pro Wrestling culture, it has a lot of it. Just pure dumb fun in that mode. Challenges can be pretty challenging, so there is something for those who like to overcome difficulty. For example a match where you face three opponents at the same time. You can give all of them a V Trigger party, which brings me to another point. The moves performed have impact and are satisfying.
If you like simulating AI vs AI matches, because the game doesn't rely on Overall, guys like Kenny Omega can lose to lowest stat holders. It's all situational, so AI vs AI matches are unpredictable. Most of them can last up to 3 minutes. While you will get to see long epic matches that take over 10 minutes. Those are rare, but are a pleasant surprise.
You can play around with Wrestlers move sets as you can change every move and entrance details.
One thing I would want them to add is a modifier for Damage and Momentum.
Still, game has kept my fun for 80 hours atm
Hey Guys, sorry to beat a dead horse here, but how close is it to the outlined above? I just heard about this from a co-worker today and I was blown away...He said they picked up AKI people and it was just like the above mentioned games... How close is it to them? They were, and still are the best wrestling games ever. So much so, I play them atleast a few times a year. Also, hope I'm not showing my age, but I bought this games on the n64 when they were released lol.
Thanks guys!
makes no sense and it's just people desperately wanting the game so succeed even though they were sold a $20 game.
Your response is basically those people didn't have the same opinion as me so they are AEW stans and are wrong. Like what?
@Grandfather
Sorry for the late response. Steam allows you to play for up to two hours before you cannot request a refund. If you're unable to play a friend's copy of the game, purchase it and try some 1v1 matches. Then you can judge the game for yourself and decide to keep or refund it.
The gameplay for me is on point. Content, on the other hand, is severely lacking in this game. I personally won't be playing it that much anymore without future content updates. The game is just too shallow in it's current state for it to hold my attention for long. With that being said, I still stand by my experience from a gameplay perspective.
