Some Final Thoughts on Syl's Quest [Spoilers]
Hello!

First off, I wanted to thank everyone who had a hand in the creation of this game. This is one of very few games I've ever acquired near release, and it exceeded my expectations as a whole. Terra Memoria is a lovely world to immerse oneself in, and I found myself truly caring for most of its main cast by the end. I'll have more thoughts on the positives and negatives later, perhaps for a review, but, I did want to quickly point out one thing.

The ending to Syl's quest (where she finally meets her parents) was the most emotionally resonant for me, and the devastation of discovering her parents aloof, completely quiescent as to her needs, worries, and struggles, had the full intended impact. It also made sense when her dad later explained that they had believed they would never see her again, and had decided to "mourn" her and move on as though nothing had happened.

There are two significant reasons I feel this resolution is a bit too succinct to actually resolve anything, and it felt like abruptly cutting a song just before the final (and most emotionally tuned) part, which left me feeling empty in a way discordant from the scene:

1. (Minor point) The father's explanation feels a little rushed. I really love his parting words, that they'll always be proud of her and that they're proud of her independence, but, I don't think it's quite sufficient given how painful the initial greeting was.

2. (Major point) The mother's dialogue doesn't change! The father is like, "hey, honey, sorry - you traveled around the entire world to see us, and we didn't take that earnestly when you entered. We had mourned you and moved on because we thought we'd never see you again, and we foolishly chose to ignore your impassioned pleas for love and acceptance because we had convinced ourselves you didn't need it. We're proud of you and who you've become."
And the mom is just like, "Yeah, Constance sucks! We're making good money here."

It snaps me right out of the scene unexpectedly, and turns the scene from convalescence from abandonment to, just... Being farcical. Please, please give Syl's mother something to say! The whole "Yeah, that's nice, dear" dialogue from her just doesn't match the tone at all.

Anyways, thanks for the great game!

That's actually very helpful to have this kind of well redacted opinion about the game. Thanks for it, even if it doesn't land in Terra Memoria it will surely help for our next projects :)

Thanks! I really hope you do add in one more line for the mother; it would make Syl's ending make so much more sense! :)
