Game is confused with PS5 controller on PC
The game seems to be eating inputs because its only recognizing the controller as a PS5 while a button is held, but as soon as its released it thinks Im using an Xbox controller. This is made very obvious in the controls menu where it shows the image of the controller it thinks is being used. This issue results in some inputs not working (couldnt pick up the starting weapon) and others not working consistently (couldnt consistently trigger dashes).

There are no input issues when using M/K (and I assume not for an Xbox controller), so I think this is just a PS5 controller issue. I am specifically using it through the DS4 utility.

dualsense works perfectly for me, you don't need to use DS4, it's probably causing the issues. Or change the Steam input setting. I used to use DS4 Windows for most games but it's not needed these days.

I started with a PS5 a few months ago and had to use DS4 for most games. I could try fiddling with Steam input settings

We actually deployed a fix to the PS5 Dualsense controller, but not for the exact issue you reported (it was around keybinds). Give it a go and see if it's any better.

I had the same issue. I use DualSenseX. I had to set that to dual sense instead of emulating an xbox controller.

Then I went through all the steam controller settings:
DualSense selected at the top
Playstation controller support - enabled
then turn off - enable steam input for all other devices.

It now works for me in game. The only issue I'm having is that the menu selection screens will keep going back to the first selection, like the joystick isn't calibrated and is pushing upwards. I can use my keyboard arrow keys to select on those screens just fine though as a work around.

Discovered theres an option to turn off DS4 for individual games, and that seems to be working well so far.

I have xbox 360 controller same problem. I did a calibration; it didn't help.
