You will sound like a true imbecile critizing the game without mentioning your specs - rig + hmd. Running the game using Varjo Aero res 200% with maxed in-game settings in 30 or 45 fps is not the same as using low settings with an orginal Vive res 100% and solid 90 fps. Or using 144 fps with the Index. We do not all play the same game, your choice of rig, hmd and controllers will cause significant differences.
I've tested the game using both Rift CV1 ss 2.5 and Index res 300%, both with maxed in-game settings. Using an oc'ed RTX 3090, i9 10900K, 32GB, Win10 Pro. Got solid 90 fps with both hmds.
I like the handling of weapons better with the CV1, feels less sluggish compared to the Index. The game supports both native Oculus drivers and native SteamVR drivers, so performance is optimal using either CV1 or Index. Weapon alignment is also slightly different with Touch and Knuckles (Index controllers) - thus your choice of hmd and controllers will impact your experience.
The game feels like made for oled - in some of the cells when starting the game, it's so dark I cannot see anything with lcd - but I can with oled. So your choice of oled or lcd will also create differences in very dark locations. Etc.
If you use a hmd which needs an additional layer of drivers, this will impact performance - like using WMR, Pimax, Aero etc. And maybe also impact weapon alignment, swinging etc.
Just let the devs know your rig, os and hmd - maybe they can help.
its a really cool addition to my vr library and im excited to see where it goes
I can run using both Touch and Index controllers, but it is cumbersome having to move your hands - still maybe more realistic than pressing a button.
Maybe Wands need a check. Touch controllers work great with the game - but I prefer the Index with res 300% for the very sharp image clarity.
Index, Vive and Vive Pro are the only hmds I know of with native SteamVR support, so you should get optimal perfornance. Vive Pro 2 for reasons unknown to me needs an extra layer of drivers, which greatly impact performance in games using native SteamVR drivers.
