There was a period where they went radio silent for 6 months, and i thought it was wrong to not keep people appraised of the progress (even if its "there is no progress")
However the Dev has already apologised for that and has kept up with keeping the community in the loop.
Other than that, your definition of early access is entirely incorrect. Early access simply means the game isnt finished yet. It could take the dev 1 month, 1 year, or 10 years to complete development of the product, or they could announce that they are not going to finish the game. All of that is something you need to be aware of before buying an Early Access game.
I was part of the discord when the radio silence happened and boy it got tiring fast, so I opted to just checking on it here every now and again. Whilst I would've liked the dev to update here more often ( as they stated ), but you're immense help nonetheless to keep people outside of the discord in the loop!
There has been thousands of solo devs pushing out update more often than once in a 2 years. There has been a lot that programmed way more in 2 years.
I don't know where this narrative that coding a game is sooo hard comes from. We have more than 10 mil games in the market, coding is not that hard and impossible.
Also if one is leading a business. one can hire more devs. There were sales and Patreon money and tons of people willing to give money to this game.
You are one of those people who thinks coding is DRAMATICALLY harder than it actually is. If I expect this game to be released in a year or two from the last major update, by your logic, we won't live to see it done in 10000-20000 years.
Yeah, and AFTER he apologized and told everyone that "I'll be continuing to post updates as we get closer to 1.0 release!" he went radiosilent for over 3 months again!
Now he is posting a new "update" ... just to tell us that we have to wait for another whole YEAR?
And lets be honest here: 1.0 will NOT include any new content ... it is a rework of already existing systems!
Are you aware of the difference between an original game like OoC and asset flips flooding Steam?
We are on Steam, you can find more original games than there is time in ones lifetime.
Dude, this game has no assets that could be flipped. This is basically a fancy Prestige Tree with some JPGs.
You mean all those Renpy and RPG Maker games that are made within a couple weeks, as long as it takes to generate AI art and script? Or all those game jam titles that are pushed straight to Steam with little polish, if any?
I would thank you not to throw this game, which has complex interacting systems that have to be carefully designed and balanced, into the same bin with the low- or even zero-effort games.
It is pretty demeaning and rude to any developer that puts actual effort in.
And you will notice I never said a game in EA can't take 10 years to finish itself, I said it's a brzach of trust not to update more regularly than once every 2 years. And it is, no matter what the apologists think.
Yeah I really don't care about your opinion or this "issue"
I dont have any personal stake in this and I don't know the Dev.
You are welcome to fight a war with the "apologists", I'm just passing on the official update he posted on discord to the steam forums since the Dev doesn't really use the steam forums themselves.
I'm unsubscribing from the discussion, if theres any future updates on discord I'll create a new one.
Right.... How long was 0.6 on the beta branch without being pushed into the main branch already? Why is the current milestone of the dev not doing that first, before "promising" another year without content while he is doing something else? Since i'm ignorant, please educate me.
