There may be other ways to increase the cap, click on Mana and check what affects its capacity. I didn't invest in other ways, so for me Wisdom boosted by Magic Notes was the main source of it but it is possible to focus differently.
You can also additionally increase Mana Efficiency to decrease the cost of everything that requires it. Again, click on Mana to see what affects Efficiency.
The thing is, I already had 70 magic notes. I uppsed them to 110, now I have 5.28 mil mana, which is still a very long way from a billion or trillion people reported.
My charm magic is at 117.
The mana capacity screen lists:
Base: +1.07M
1.07M from wisdom
Main: +390k, +260%
+227k from Thaumaturgy.
+163k from Thaumic scrolls (1.54 billion)
+260% from magic notes
Regarding charm spells, I apparently know 21 of them, and none of them interact with wisdom or mana pool. Basically, there's Still Reflection which affects mana rate, and "Brilliance" which grants mana on cast, but it doesn't affect the cap, and overcharges mana pool if iti s full.
I hear that in previous versions some spells had permanent effects, but nothing like that seems to exist now.
Same deal with alchemy. I have 60 recipes, nothing increases mana cap.
So, is it just magic notes, basically?
Getting 12.8T base with wisdom 323.
Also don't forget Wizardry research also boosts wisdom.
My best material spell setup is 2 distorted Fusion, then 2 coiling Growth, then hasten(just the spell cast for distorted fusion, don't care of the duration, but if you could have any fast cast spell, here.) and finally condense time. Used with Aqua and Charm stones, + something else you need at the moment.
Depending on your crit, this will either empty your flower stock, or give you multiple thousand power more of everything else. Also good to have your space maxed while researching something using it.
The current end game is like an endless circle of research, boosting alchemy, boosting workshop, over and over and over, while slowly growing your soul rate.
Open Magic/Spellbook page and select any spell of the Charm type. You will see Charm and maybe some other types in the list to the right. Hover your mouse on Charm to see what it affects. As far as I know only Charm type affects anything, all other types just give extra bonus to Spell Power of their spells.

Alteration level buffs Manipulation(Alteration spell power) and through it Concentration(Mana and elemental quality).
Charm level buffs Perseverance(Non-charm spell power), and through it Wisdom (Mana capacity).
Conjure level buffs Dexterity(Conjure spell power), and through it Agility(Non-charm cooldown and spell crit effect).
Divining level buffs Aptitude(Divining spell power), and through it Resilience (Mana, spark and arcanum regen).
Evocation level buffs Destruction ( Evocation spell power), though for some reason it buffs spell power twice instead of chaining into Elementalism(which is elemental capacity).
This info you provided is helpful, thanks, didn't notice those other effects at all. I checked few types, they didn't have extra effects except for Spell Power so I thought it was just Charm that was special because it was also mentioned separately in some spells.
Thanks for the answers.
