This is a $5 game that is otherwise free on browser?
Just curious if I'm missing something? Any benefit or value added by paying $5 for this on steam vs just using a browser?

It is a newer version.

Plus supporting the developer of one of the best games in the genre. I'd rather spend 5 dollars than the game be build around micros.

A number of the game's systems were reworked for the Steam release, and the dev is actively working on the game still. Presumably, the web version is akin to abandonware.

This is unfortunate to hear. Definitely happy that devs are trying to make money and keeping cash-shops out of their games. But abandoning the initial release or other platforms seems like a bad choice....

Not abandoned, just delayed. Mentioned on the itch.io page before the steam release and also on the discord update post.

For those of you who don't have windows or couple bucks, don't fret, the game will still be coming to Itch.io/the browser! The plan is to let the steam release be the only version for a decent amount of time, to encourage its growth and usage, but will still be released to its typical places after that.

Thanks for the info! I'm personally moving on as I'm looking for stuff that's fully supported on Mobile (Android/browser) and desktop.

If something is 100% desktop based, I'd personally be playing more involved games. Idle type games for me are more of a mobile/side thing.

OoC is not really really Idle, I would say that 90% of the game requires activity.

You have to get pretty deep into unlocking Alchemy in order to turn this into an idle game, and even then that's going to be the slower way to progress once you do reach that point.

Further down alchemy is completely busted, and there's no point in using your spells other than gaining spell casting levels and spell school levels, sadly

Have you tried Kitten's Game?
Or Trimps for that matter ?

rather pay some bucks to have a good gaming experience with a game optimized for fun. Rather then a game optimized for you to pay micro's that is in general less fun.
procy May 7, 2022 @ 7:26am
the game is really cheap for what you get, just buy it...

Consider the itch.io version a bit of a demo, it's a previous build. Steam EA is the latest build, ets updated, and will be the full game as well once finished.
