I mentioned this in another thread but I have the Healer achievement and I did NOT give all 10 tonics to Hank so IDK if that's a bug or what I only gave him either 8 or 9 and I got that achievement. I still haven't even made it into the tree room yet so I have not picked up that tonic - ever.
Also mixing Olive Oil and Tamarind gives you marinade you can use on the Ham and the Fish.
Pet Lover is just giving all the cat food to the cat basically - it unlocked for me after I did that.
I'll watch my other footage tomorrow and see where some other stuff is located, that's all I had time to find today.
- "Ultimate Dish 1" is a marinated Ham'N'Beans. Combine olive oil (found on the hot dog stand in the new map section) with the tamarind (found in El Crab Shack) to get marinade. Then combine marinade with an uncooked delicious ham. Lastly, cook the ham and a can of beans before combining them. The item is still simply called "Ham'N'Beans" but I got the achievement all the same as long as the ham is marinated.
- "Pure Angel" is achieved by fully healing Hank without firing a single shot from your gun. It is possible to get through every section of the game (even the new segments) without firing the gun or killing any enemies...even the subway part, though it is difficult and requires some patience. This allows you to get all 10 health tonics to heal Hank all the way. Exploding crawler enemies don't count against you, meaning you can bait them to explode and run away, hide before they explode, or simply tank the damage.
Because the actual "Pacifist" achievement is supposedly awarded easily by getting the yellow ending, "Pure Angel" is the more difficult of the two, as it requires you to get through just about every part of the game without firing the gun.
(Note: this achievement seems to be bugged. The game awarded it to me on my pacifist play-through after I stepped inside the arcade. I had only given Hank 2 or 3 tonics at this point)
Now for some interesting bits and theories:
- The "Tree Room" finally opened for me, though I'm not sure how. I cut the veins to the right of the room's door (1st floor next to the front lobby door) as soon as I encountered them early in the game. The door was still jammed after doing that. I returned later on after completing the basement and looting outside a little, before entering the arcade I believe, and the door was then mysteriously unlocked. All I have to go by, is that I hadn't fired the gun at all at this point, gave Hank a few tonics, and had overall very good mental health. I finished the purple book, read the green book, only summoned the heart (Astarte) through the red book, and did not complete the new basement section. Nor did I shoot the wriggling thing in the basement for that extra scene to play out.
- The back hospital room scene does indeed change depending on your mental health. When you're headed for the red/blue endings, "Her" will jump out of the filing cabinet and grab you. The protagonist will refer to that experience as a nightmare (and your psyche report also calls it a nightmare).
When your mental health is good (green/white ending) and you examine the filing cabinet, the protagonist instead remarks on how he "gets it now" and that the only way to stop the cycle is to "leave the city for good." He then wakes up back in the apartment without "Her" jumping out, and the experience is referred to as something different (can't quite remember what...I think the psyche report called it "came to a realization in a dream" or something)
Maybe this is a reference to getting the white ending? Now that I've achieved it (and the other 3 normal endings), I'll need to test.
Still haven't found an oven/grill for the pizza dough/carp. There's an oven in one of the "hole" rooms reached through Chie's apartment, but it just has rotten meat in it and apparently can't be used for baking.
Oh, and for anyone trying to get the white ending: Hank now only gives you the Burger Buns when you have given him 9 tonics and offer him Sleepy Cat. You can't get the white ending without successfully attempting to give all characters Sleepy Cat: Kenny, Benzido, Chie, The Director (after he gives you the ESP I think?), Hank (after giving 9 tonics). and the fully-fed adopted cat (all 5 tins of cat food). This means you'll have to explore thoroughly and brave the subway and/or the body section of the basement without harming your mental health too much to get enough tonics for Hank.
Still not sure what "Ecologist" is.
Lots of secrets, for sure. We're getting close!
- I'm 99% certain there is a way to get into the Joe's restaurant next to the hot dog stand. Normally, locked doors of no importance do not show up on the map, but the Joe's door is clearly marked with a red bar. Red lines are used to indicate locked-yet-accessible doors; i.e., The Director's door turns from green to red after he dies because it becomes locked. That means Joe's likely has an interior.
I would bet that the oven we're looking for is in Joe's. I searched around and was never able to find it elsewhere in the game (it can't be in the basement, seeing as the carp is obtained after the basement is inaccessible). How to get inside Joe's, however, is still a mystery.
- I missed this, but in the back of the tree room (where two infected are located) there is a tape recorder that can be activated to play out a couple's conversation about their upcoming child. It gave me a psyche report stat "Granted dignity in death," but other than that it didn't seem to do anything.
- Can confirm getting all endings except yellow does not change the hospital back-room scene. I'll grab the yellow ending soon and see if having all 5 endings does anything.
i found a oven.
just need to visit the director again after you are on 34th street (where is joe store)
after that, the oven will be in your apartment
you can also cook pizza and carp there
then the grilled carp (and marinated) must be combined with pickles and just baked dough. get a new dish achievement.
Still don’t now how to get “ecologist” achievement.
Still don’t now where is new endings can be...
and also they don't give me an achievement (cassete 1), although I received the player from the director many times. Has anyone come across these?
I got the achievement for cassette 1 but I did also listen to it on the couch so maybe you have to do that? I'm not sure. Or swap it out for another tape? Either way I definitely got the achievement I just can't remember how.
Ecologists study plants, animals, and the environment right so maybe it has something to do with the plant food or whatever that you can create after you access the new room? I don't think we've discovered what that's for just yet have we? Because you water the plant for a while and that gives you keys but feeding it (or some other plant) the new food I don't think we've discovered what effect that has just yet if I'm not mistaken.
The achievement for that does show a leaf in the picture so it definitely has something to do with plants whether it's with plant food or not eating meat - it's definitely something along those lines.
