Soft locked? No eternal candles?

I’ve explored everything in the island up to the bridge, have gotten every recipe I can from the woodcutter’s village, and I have eternal flame embers but no idea how to make them into candles. I upgraded the forge the moment I got the reward from the old forge, but I didn’t do the associated quest and I think I’m stuck. I’ve explored every area I can go into and I can’t find the eternal candles anywhere. Please help??

I've gone to the well but nothing happens/is clickable.

You need the quest to hunt down the thief of coins. This is a mouse guy in the well. You go to the well then you climb down a ladder. After a long conversation he will ask for some knitting needles and when he gets them he gives you some candles.

Next once you upgrade the forge with the everlasting flame from the old blacksmiths forge you can put the candles into the forge and they will turn into eternal candles.
