Setting the table puzzle

So, I'm at the puzzle building in the swamp where you have to collect stuff to set a dining table. It's the one where you also collect all the red shoes and stick them in a dresser. I understand how to solve this puzzle after looking at the painting in the basement, but after trying to solve the problem for a while and looking it up i realized i have no red tablecloth. I know i picked one up because i remember swapping the table from red to blue but it never went back into my inventory. You can't leave until you solve the puzzle, but i literally cannot solve it due to not having the red table cloth. Am i stupid? wtf am i missing here?

This screenshot shows the red tablecloth not being in my inventory, not hanging above the bathtub where it usually spawns, and it not being on the table. What am i missing here? I can't even leave to reset the puzzle do I just have to reload and deal with the lost progress?

I reloaded the save and woke up in the stating town. Upon traveling back to the puzzle room I found it in the exact same state. So unless I'm insanely dumb and overlooking something obvious, my account is softlocked at this point.

Are you playing on gamepass or steam? (i think if its on gamepass they said there is a problem of the game saving some stuff wrong and they are going to push a fix)
You can ask for help of what to do in their discord tho... they are pretty helpfull
