"Go east and reach Vox" how?

How do I continue? I think I looked everywhere and did everything I could.
The only thing left is to craft a Steel spatula for one guy (I don't have the recipe) and a locked gate in the east in the cave with giant bats. But I don't have a combination for it, I went through the entire cave like 5 times now.

Going through the cave with the gate is the right way! The code is written on the walls when you explore the cave. If you fall through the trap door, the order is top to bottom on the 4 letters written on the walls during the fall.

Man, that is a really bad design.

Previous codes were written on paper, which makes you assume there has to be a paper somewhere I missed.
There are other symbols on the walls.
The symbols are really hard to see.
They are only visible after you put a bad code in.
The character doesn't comment about anything.
The quest doesn't say anything about the cave.

It all just made me feel I wasn't supposed to be there yet. And I didn't even try putting in the code first two times I was there because I didn't havy any code to put it.

To the devs credit, I thought the code on the wall was pretty obvious after the trapdoor opened. There's four symbols in a row and they're hard to miss, and the lock mechanism requires four symbols... in a row. To OPs credit, I agree that there should have been a mention of the cave, not just someone telling you to 'go west.'

I am colorblind, I assume the symbols are in red paint, but it's really hard for me to notice them in such low contrast and dark lights... I went through the cave THREE TIMES before I resorted to look for the answers, and even now "knowing" there are symbols in the walls, I've seen some but I can't really find all of them...

It's making it really hard to continue.

@jon_jon13 sorry for not considering this before launch! In a future patch, we'll improve the contrast so it's more noticeable. In the meantime, for anyone who's still struggling with finding the code:
