Game is much quieter in stream than it shows in OBS

so when i stream a game to twitch through obs, the game will be much quieter in the actual stream than what i'm hearing, and the volume levels that show in obs. is this normal? is this part of the ducking feature of my compressor filter of my mic?

im asking because this makes optimizing audio for my streams much more complicated.
because often the game audio is much quieter than it needs to be.
